Some of us do our research before making a purchase and the vehicle we buy is the one which suits our needs.

So can those who make snap judgements otherwise (yes, certain school gate mums, I do mean you and a fair few MN'ers too) go away and consider why they feel the need to criticise someone else's carefully thought through decision/choice so instantly without considering the possible factors in arriving at that choice.

Just because some people get a kick out of the admiration/envy that they can garner from showing off any lovely or expensive new clothes/handbag/car/jewellery or talking about their upcoming holiday or lounge redecoration, new furniture etc etc, don't assume that all people are like that because it smacks of judging others by the way you personally would act and might therefore actually reflect badly on you.

I honestly had no idea when I got the car some while back how much it would affect the way some acquaintances treat me.

My Dad got himself a personalised plate Ever. Did I say anything? No I did not. The place for that debate is on MN not in RL. Grin

theo. Really? You have a much nicer car than who? me? There is no nicer car than a Viano.

And tests prove that 4x4s are far more likely to kill pedestrians.

TBH Theo, I doubt very much that you are rich....crass? oh yes.

My husband would have a vogue, if I allowed it, but then he is from the Midlands.

Range Rovers are the best cars on the road IMO classy, comfortable and safe. I wonder what car the people slagging them off drive.....

Will you teach me to drive, sadie? (I nearly typed 'dribble' then.) Smile You'd like me when you got to know me.

Tbh I currently favour the hoop and stick. I am saving up for a train ticket for Christmas.

DH has one on order but won't be here until after Christmas - we live in the country at the top of a big hill and he is terrified about not being able to get to the train station at 5am each day. I didn't realise people were openly hostile about other people's car choices.

He does have a Barbour for dog walking but likes muckboots - says Hunters have been taken over by city dwellers.

Is this not just about jealousy - it seems that so many people are resentful of what others have rather than being content with their lot.

Not all but most of them, it is a case of trying to show off to neighbors, friends and other parents on the school run. They are no safer and are more dangerous to other road users and pedestrians. I live in the middle of no where and survive just fine without a 4x4. Lets hope they go out of fashion soon esp the white ones which look like something off The only way is Essex.

I can honestly say since I joined MN I have never given so much thought to so many things that don't really matter. It's bizarre. Sad

We (well, DH) has one. He also has a personalised plate.

So what. We have 6 DC, we need the space. He likes it. There's a lot worse things that he could spend his money on.

Do I judge your cars? No.
