Some of us do our research before making a purchase and the vehicle we buy is the one which suits our needs.

So can those who make snap judgements otherwise (yes, certain school gate mums, I do mean you and a fair few MN'ers too) go away and consider why they feel the need to criticise someone else's carefully thought through decision/choice so instantly without considering the possible factors in arriving at that choice.

Just because some people get a kick out of the admiration/envy that they can garner from showing off any lovely or expensive new clothes/handbag/car/jewellery or talking about their upcoming holiday or lounge redecoration, new furniture etc etc, don't assume that all people are like that because it smacks of judging others by the way you personally would act and might therefore actually reflect badly on you.

I honestly had no idea when I got the car some while back how much it would affect the way some acquaintances treat me.

I used to drive one I loved it I didn't need it we live on an estate! It went because it was too expensive to run, we still talk about our 4x4 with fond memories! ;)

You misrepresent me- I haven't actually specified my arguement, and I haven't ranted.

It's about balancing benefits and risks for 4x4s and buses, and other vehicles of you like.

I've never come across anyone unable to grasp this, before, no matter how pro 4x4 they have been.

catinwitchyboots · 01/11/2012 16:32

That is an entirely different arguement to what you were spounting upthread though.

You were ranting about what how 4x4s are the biggest killing machines on the road.

It wasn't about emissions or parking Smile

You were ranting about the 4x4 driving atrocious cunts who go around mowing down pedestrians Smile

A bus transports hundreds of people a day, substantionally reducing traffic and associated emissions

They also don't park up and down narrow urban residential streets, outside schools and in car parks

We need to do a petition to get these Shit Tanks off the town and city roads!
Jeremy Clarkson will you help us?
I was beginning to think a Disco was one of those partymobiles that are used for stag and hens. Shame its not, then you could have been redeemed a bit Grin

DH's christmas wish list: snorkel and winch.
My christmas wish list: a slightly more comfy interior so I can't see the road between the panels of the vehicle I'm sitting in.

So now it seems it's 4x4 owners fault if a non 4x4 driver has an accident because there was a 4x4 in the vicinity?
Comparing buses and lorries is to illustrate that 4x4's are not the largest vehicle on the road, and most of you seem to manage to share the roads perfectly well with them.

Blimey wouldn't like to meet some of these 4x4 drivers on a narrow road. Talk about aggressive Shock.

Nobody's ever told me in RL.

But I don't surround myself with judgemental, pious nobbers.

My argument is valid. My 4x4 is as essential to me as the bus is to the little old lady at the end of your road.

Different folks have differing needs. That's life.

ah! see us 4X4 owners probably have not noticed any lobies/protests and activists becasue our cars are SO big and so HUGE we probably just run straight over them all and didn not even realise! whoopsie! [hhmm]

People tell this to 4x4 owners all the time in EL. There are lobbies and protests and activists.

Comparing buses and lorries with 4x4s is itself a ridiculous arguement

indeed theo, no one in real life has said anything to me. I think this thread has shown some people up to be quite mental.

It doesn't really matter anyway, nobody says this to people's faces in the real world. These threads are only created to make trouble. Pedestrian killers is just as ludicrous as saying if you vote conservative you want children to suffer. It's really very childish and stupid.

I'm just pointing out how absurd your argument is.

Surely you're more likely to be killed if you are hit by a bus than if you're hit by a 4x4. But I can't here you laying in to bus users. Telling them they're ridiculous and should be biking/walking.

Same with lorries - why don't you write to Eddie Stobart and demand that he upgrades his fleet to Nissan Micras.

And motorhome users.

And horse box drivers.

You know your argument is daft.

We have a Disco. We need it. Without it we are unable to do certain things we need to. End of.

I have Hunter wellies. I need them. Other wellies don't give the support Hunter's do, nor the comfort - and when you are walking miles every day through mud or snow a £10 pair from Asda won't cut it. Or last. Hunter'slast for years of daily wear. It's that simple.

I'm also blonde (natural) and I have sunglasses which I wear if it's sunny, even if I'm driving.

I'm fine with our choices - they are best options for the life we lead.

I'm not sure what you meant by that last comment cat. Are you trying to make a joke about the possibility of my children being run over? Confused
