is that the one where they take someone to see a house which is the opposite of what they say they are looking for and call it a 'wild card'?. If so, yanbu!

It's ok I suppose but I prefer the other one with Phil and whatshername (mind gone blank). Far more entertaining.

'fraid YABU - it's one of my progs of choice when I just want to "veg" for a bit and not have to think too hard about anything

zukiecat it's always the kitchen isn't it? A b*** massive kitchen that you could get into a cupboard and no-one would find you for a week and it's always "a bit on the small side" . I'd love to go on the show just to have a nose around these houses.
I love Phil and Kirsty as well, in fact any programme involving houses being sold, done up, extended, it's all wishful thinking

I love this show just because half the time the people are nutters! The "small kitchen" brigade drive me bonkers but not as much as the people who want a cottage in the country and then complain that "they don't like the beams and the ceilings are very low...." um isn't that what a country cottage is supposed to be like??

I hate it too , its always a retired couple looking for five bedrooms and a couple of acres of land because they have always fancied chickens .

Why do they need such big houses ? Two people in five bedrooms and always st the very least two reception rooms .

And they will refuse the house on the grounds of it not having a sodding range cookery !
Wtf is that about ?
You are spending a million pounds on a house , buy a new frigging cooker .

Or the ones who say they want to 'downsize' and then get upset when the new place has less bedrooms than where they are now

"This is Kirsty and James. They are 25 and 26 and have £700,000 cash to buy their dream home".

"Ooh it's a bit small" when I could fit my whole flat into the front room.

My parents were once on this show, and believe it or not, they were not allowed to complain too much about the houses on camera. When they were shown houses nothing like what they had asked for, they still had to come up with mostly positive comments about them.

As for the mystery house, my dad wanted to say 'it's a mystery why you have shown us this!' But unsurprisingly that bit had to be re-recorded to make it sound more favourable.

I welcome any opportunity to have a nosy around lovely houses. The wish lists at the start always make me laugh - 'We want four bedrooms, a ginormous kitchen, a thatched roof and a garden overlooked by mountains with goats springing about in an adjacent field. We might compromise a bit on the kitchen but nothing else.'

I do like it but they do annoy me when they have a lovely house to look round the land therequested and then they piss about talking about not enough sun coming into the 2nd reception room

There seem to be a few formats to Escape to the Country. Sometimes they just show houses but other times they have the house hunters taking a tour of a local landmark or abseiling down a cliff or making sausages to some authentic local recipe. WTF is that about?

I love it! the mystery house on today's was lovely! not as good as homes under the hammer though.

I think Homes under the Hammer is a bit boring. Most of the buyers are buying to let and all they do is paint the walls magnolia and put in some bland kitchen units.

or making sausages to some authentic local recipe. WTF is that about?

I think that is to get the ambience of xountry living aye cos all country folk go and make their own sausage

I love it. I Sky+ it so I always have something to watch when I am doing the ironing. Although they do piss me off when the houses are so big that if I lived there I wouldn't have to see DH for a week, and they moan they are too small!

I'd love to know whether anyone actually buys a house that they have been shown. At the end the presenter always says "let us know how you get on" - but we, the audience, never know.
I suspect that most of the people are just there for the ride (especially for those programmes which involve going abroad!)

I used to like boy or not to buy and they would have an hour or so living in the house they always told you if they bought or not, IS it still on ?

None of them EVER escape to the country.

Watching that programme is true torture.
