Annoying.

Need I say more?

OP posts:
Dotty342kids · 30/10/2012 16:50

I know! I never know what jobs these 30 something couples must do in order for them to have 600-700 grand for a house! Who on earth are they and what job do they do? Cos whatever it is, I think I need to retrain!

TheCraicDealer · 30/10/2012 16:51

Was Trading Up not the series where they started with a £50K house, did it up, sold it at a profit and then repeated until they'd sold a house for £1,000,000? And all the profits went to charity?

I think this was why I did so badly in my A-Levels.

Mrsjay · 30/10/2012 16:54

no that was the million pound experiment maybe not experiment but million pound was in the title

EuroShagmore · 30/10/2012 16:54

wildfig I love that idea!

Can you imagine? "Yah, we really want to live somewhere with an urban feel, where we can have drug dealers instead of chickens around the door and a view of the South Circular. And we're so bored of not being able to hear our neighbours. Could we have some with a newborn who like to repair car engines early on a Sunday morning please?"

TheCraicDealer · 30/10/2012 16:56

The Million Pound Property Experiment!!! Thank you, google. They made £300,000 for Children In Need, fair play.

Mrsjay · 30/10/2012 16:58

Yah, we really want to live somewhere with an urban feel,

i remember watching a really patronising programme on ch4 and Keith Allen was going on about it being so Urban and gritty knob

RustyScare · 30/10/2012 17:00

Gee, is that a hard G or soft G so you think?

In Dublin, Gee with a hard G is rather graphic slang for cunt a lady's undercarriage.

MidnightinMoscow · 30/10/2012 17:14

Pmsl at urban feel.

"Yeah, we are really looking for that urban edge. The used syringes and burnt spoons in the drive are fabulous"

As they wander around an estate in Tower Hamlets

Growlithe · 30/10/2012 17:16

They never ever ever buy the house. Even when they say they are definitely going for it there is always an update saying it never happened. Time wasters the lot of them!

MidnightinMoscow · 30/10/2012 17:17

"Yes, kitchen is a bit on re small side. Was hoping for space to have a big table so I can put all my bags from Netto on it when I get in".

pumpkinsweetie · 30/10/2012 17:20

Yabu-love it!!!
I can sit there on my bum daydreaming about being well to do & living peacfully in the countryGrin

HeinousHecate · 30/10/2012 17:21

They only go on it to be on the telly.

I can only remember one episode where the couple actually bought one of the houses.

TequilaMockingMagpie · 30/10/2012 17:26

I would love to revisit them a couple of years down the road , I bet the veg patch will be mostly lawned over and any friends they did used to entertain have not been seen since they moved two hours away .

Bitch

Frontpaw · 30/10/2012 17:27

I think some of the locations they show just aren't very suitable - so a trendy London 'pad' for some sweet innocents is actually in a war zone an 'up and coming area-- (unlikely ever to up or come).

I suspect some of the rural ones have an abatoire or nuclear processing plant at the end of the paddock (for the po-nees).

FiteFuaite · 30/10/2012 17:34

What was the one who had a very posh, male curly-headed presenter and he was once looking for a house for some very eccentric naturists and they were all naked at one stage [hshock] Twas great telly [hgrin]

H never saw it and I just know he doesn't believe that it ever happened, but it did,I swear!!

HazeltheMcWitch · 30/10/2012 17:35

I love all housey progs, and mags. Like LaQueen, I also know stylist from housey mags, and it's exactly as she said, she rocks up with her van-load of 'this month's accessories', and artfully strews them about the place. The husband is always a banker, and the wife owns a small interior deisign practice. If it's 2 chaps, one is ALWAYS an architect.

A friend went on Escape to the Country, and they only went and bought the Mystery House. I've been there, it's a beaut.

Frontpaw · 30/10/2012 17:37

I'm sure it wasn't great telly. Nekkid folks who flaunt it are almost always people that you would never ever wish to see nekkid.

Yes and it will mean he will have a three hour commute , if the trains are running , if he has no late meetings , if he is never going to socialise ever again .

Good luck .

And yes I am very green at all their money and new shiny houses .

Francagoestohollywood · 30/10/2012 17:44

YABU!
I used to love watching Escape to the country, when we lived in the UK. I still remember the lady from the first edition!
Fond memories of dd taking her nap and me doing the ironing watching it...
