I love Escape to the Country. I particularly like it when it's a pre-recession repeat with a young couple who have clearly massively over-extended themsleves - I imagine them now in their cold, drafty house, miles from the shops and the friends they so love to entertain, struggling to pay the heating bills.
I live in a period property in the country - I love it but it is miles from anywhere practical, most of the rooms are pokey, the kitchen is terrible, in the winter it's never warm and there is no mains gas. Oh and beams are not so much fun when you run into one and give yourself concussion
I love it but the countryside is not a themepark!
