To think you should stay out of other people's bedrooms

pil's were just visiting ( for 10 days) and I lost track of the times FIL came into my bedroom. He normally has a problem with boundaries, and after being with dh for 15 years, i am used to it.

Either I was in there, or the dc's were, so to my knowledge he doesn't go in there alone, he doesn't snoop around, he just talks to whoever is in there.

But I would never go into another adults bedroom - we stayed at pil's house for six weeks and I don't think I ever went in their bedroom.

AIBU to think you should respect some spaces in other people's houses? Or is this normal behavior? and no , I didn't confront him.

I couldn't care less who comes into my bedroom, it seems rather precious to care. It's a very pretty blue and white bedroom with a nearly sea view, so I quite like showing it off. I wouldn't want people rifling through the cupboards mind you but then that would apply in equal measure to my fridge.

When I was little, my friend Susan's mother and father had an absolute rule that we were never, ever, ever, ever to extend our hide and seek games into their bedroom. Ever. God knows what lay behind the door. It was Chamber of Secret like. I loved the mum, she was great, but the sense of foreboding about what might happen if we ever opened the bedroom door - that was something else. This was Purley Surrey btw. I not sure even now whether I regret being too petrified to ever sneak in.

TeaBrick · 30/10/2012 19:32

Wouldn't a strap on be used on a man by a woman anyway?

EdsRedeemingQualities · 30/10/2012 19:33

GOOD POINT

PickledFanjoCat · 30/10/2012 19:40

Or a woman.

MayTheOddsBeEverInYourFavour · 30/10/2012 19:40

It was a joke about the hulk

But as I said before there is absolutely nothing wrong with 'angry fucking' in the right circumstances, it certainly doesn't automatically imply sexual violence. I have done angry fucking and it was rather good, it wasn't with the hulk though- green is not my colour at all

PickledFanjoCat · 30/10/2012 19:46

You can't even get a hulk strap on. I've just looked.

MayTheOddsBeEverInYourFavour · 30/10/2012 19:47

But pickled there's clearly a market for them

Wanna go on dragons den wit me and get them to invest in a whole line of superhero strap-ons? Grin

MayTheOddsBeEverInYourFavour · 30/10/2012 19:49

With me not wit me

I am not a scrawny teenager with my trousers round my arse Grin

PickledFanjoCat · 30/10/2012 19:52
Grin

Could be a go-er!

MaryZcary · 30/10/2012 19:54

Eds, you said "it's at times like this that I question the male presence here".

That is an incredibly anti-men remark.

I would be shocked if I was on, any forum and I saw someone say "I question the female presence here".

I resent the fact that you are allowed to imply that male posters on mumsnet are in some way different or inferior to other posters, or that in some way they need special permission to be here.

It isn't on. I find it very offensive Hmm

MaryZcary · 30/10/2012 19:55

And MrsCant, why aren't you annoyed with rip who mentioned the strap on in the first place? If you don't want a thread derailed by silly jokes?

MrsCantSayAnything · 30/10/2012 20:07

I don't clutch my pearls at the mere mention of a sex aid MaryZ it was the term Angry Fucking that I shivered at.

I can't help my reactions and I am not apologising for them either.

MaryZcary · 30/10/2012 20:10

You can help your reaction. Clutching pearls at the words "angry fucking" is very strange.

It was clearly a joke, you seem to be making the most of making people feel bad about it.

If you don't like it, hide the thread, it's simple.

MrsCantSayAnything · 30/10/2012 20:13

No it's not "very strange" it's how I feel. And if people "feel bad" well good. I meant them to.

I wanted to underline the causality with which violence and sex are linked and I did.

MaryZcary · 30/10/2012 20:17

Well, how unpleasant Shock

PickledFanjoCat · 30/10/2012 20:17

"I wanted to underline the causality with which violence and sex are linked and I did."

Well no you didn't actually. As far as I can see you just tried to twist a joke around which had nothing to do with violence.

A joke about an imaginary superhero and an imaginary sex aid.

Mary not half as unpleasant as "angry fucking" sounds.

ISee how funny. I have had numerous comedy sketches broadcast on the radio...so that must have been down to luck rather than a good sense of humour!

Fanjo I twisted nothing. The "JOKE" was twisted already.

PickledFanjoCat · 30/10/2012 20:19

If they had said Spiderman and he said that would be webby fucking would that offend?

Or Batman with some squeaky fucking?

PickledFanjoCat · 30/10/2012 20:20

A lot of things sound unpleasant, such as singling out one poster on a thread, refusing to accept an explanation.

That sort of thing.

MrsCantSayAnything · 30/10/2012 20:21

Fanjo "Webby" isn't violent. It's not a frigging word!

Oh piss it. I've work to do.

I can't be arsed anymore. Arguing about the Hulk and angry fucking is just stupid.

ScaryBeardyDeadyman · 30/10/2012 20:21

The mighty boosh got broadcast on tv and that was shit. Comedy is subjective.

MrsCantSayAnything · 30/10/2012 20:22

Cat I DID accept his explanation if you go back up the thread you will see I expressed that right after he posted it.

PickledFanjoCat · 30/10/2012 20:22

It is isn't it. Webs can be violent. Ask a fly.

vixcyn · 30/10/2012 20:22

Dear God, I am coming to this thread late...I have read the entire thread, with a migraine headache hangover, and have found nothing offensive. I am rather shocked that anyone would have the temerity to question the " male presence" on the board.
There is nothing in my bedroom of great interest. My children often lounge on the bed to watch the big screen tv, or air their grievances against each other. During parties or times I do not want anyone in my room, I simply close (and lock) the door. All the really titillating things are in the attic any way..
