To think its not ok to change a nappy on pub table in garden ?

I think it's gross and a bit rude.

He thinks I'm being over sensitive.

I can't say it would bother me if someone else did this, infact I have been with friends when they have and simply passed the wipes.

I'm assuming he didn't smear the table liberally with shit?

I think I'd put the baby on a chair or grass tbh. If it was done this weekend, it's totally unreasonable - it's been freezing - poor baby.

Was there a baby change in both the gents and ladies toilets? If not then YABU. You change them wherever is available.

YABabitU I think. I wouldn't do it if there was a baby change close by or if people were eating at tables in close proximity, but otherwise I don't have a problem with it.

Well I think it's unnecessary. But then the worst I saw was changing a baby on a fully laid table at a Wedding Reception. Nice.

I'm with you Yellowowl. People EAT off the table. Even if it's a newborn baby and the nappy is virtually clean, it's still wrong.
In fact it's wrong to do it where people can see you because even if you know it's just wee or wholesome breastfed baby poo, they don't know that and will be put off their food. If the toilets aren't suitable go as far away as you can or hide behind a bush.
If it's just a wee and you can do it on your lap with no-one noticing that's ok though.

I changed DD on an outdoor table at a seal sanctuary when she was 6 months old. The only set of toilets was a mile back at the entrance. It was just a wee and I always used a changing mat.

This old man gave me a filthy look but I ignored him. Nobody was eating nearby, we did it discreetly in a corner and would not have done it for a dirty nappy.

But it would not be right to change a dirty nappy in front of people eating and on a table where they would eat.

If they put a mat down then not so bad.

I mean birds shit on outside tables. Personally I eat my food off the plate to the actual table.

I've changed DD onthe seat bit of a pub garden bench/table. As birds crap on them all the time and there is a changing mat between baby and table I can't see what the fuss is. As long as people aren't actually eating there at the time of course!

I've done it on the seat part of a table in a pub beer garden - nappy tore so was rather urgent! I certainly wouldn't do it on the table itself.

That's odd. I tend to use a plate or a sandwich box.

I don't think it's OK, as the juxtaposition of the contents of a full nappy and a surface for food/drinks is just wrong and if it leads to direct contact/spill then it's gross.

But no more unhygienic than bird poo landing on said table. But I'd assume the bird didn't know how antisocial it was being to humans.

Unless you've been sat at the table for hours, why wasn't the nappy changed before you got there? Or do you all really change nappies immediately your DC does a wee?
Just because a table is outside it doesn't make it any less revolting. If you have a mat, there is always the ground - and don't say it's too cold, because if that's the case you shouldn't be changing them outdoors anyway.

It's not okay at all, you wouldn't do it on a table at a restaurant so why do it on a table outside.

I often change my baby in the middle of someone's dinner. Just scooch the chips to one side of the plate and it's all good.

Bit parky for al fresco nappy changes anyway, surely? Brrrr.

A bit gross, I think. I once found a used nappy stuffed down the side of a seat in a pub I briefly managed. Knew exactly who'd left it there - a large family of regulars had occupied that table all afternoon.

So I spoke to the baby's mum, next time she was in, asking her to use the changing table & bin in the loo, next time, whereupon she looked at me as if I was barking & said 'Why, don't you have cleaners?'

I agree with you, OP. Not necessary if proper facilities are available, & a bit yuk.

Yes DaddyMan that's the spirit! I change my DD's on peoples heads! Bugger them! Precious bastards.

I have done it. I was able to change a nappy without splattering poo everywhere (assuming it was a solid one). I think it's a judgment call, depending on runniness of poo, proximity of others food etc.

But if the idea makes you feel faint you certainly should not be eating at pub tables as I am prepared to bet they are crawling with foulness.

Too many people today think their heads are inappropriate places to change babies. We need to take back the forehead for baby poo!

Yes we had a mat . There wasn't any changing facilities. We weren't sure if it was a poo or a wee, 'cos couldn't tell before we changed him!

We didn't do it in the end because I told him it was too gross, but we still disagree ! He is normally very sensible lol, but having a baby has caused us o disagree over everything!
