I have no belief in derren browns psychic ability. his usual hypnosis shows are blatantly all set up with actors/actresses. I have had many an argument about this in the past with dh. His current 'apocalypse' show- if it were real- would be a Jeremy beadle gone (far) too far. However, this apocalypse show is mildly entertaining. At least he is admiting that there are actors involved- though clearly guy who is supposed to be hypnotised is an actor too. (Dh thinks otherwise)

I got called up on stage for one of his shows and I definitely wasn't pre-chosen! I then panicked that I would ruin his set but he still got me to pick the right cards in the right order and I still have NO bloody idea how he did it.

He was lovely and kissed me on the cheek [smug]
I'd do him in a heartbeat if he didn't bat for the other side

I have seen Derren brown live on numerous occasions, have always been a bit sceptical that I wasn't suggestible, but then had the hand-raising-automatron incident and was absolutely beaming with relief that it had worked. I utterly believe in him as a hypnotist, magician, entertainer and showman and have had the pleasure of meeting him backstage on a couple of occasions (once introducing my 12 year old son to him on DS1s birthday) in my opinion, he is a kind, generous and lovely man.

The beauty of acopolypse is that I don't care if I am being duped. I dont think i am, but i take it as the outstanding entertainment that it is.

Derren did that show last year, the first one of The Experiments series where the audience got to vote about what was happening to the victim. They chose to allow him to be burgled, beaten up, kidnapped, etc.

Then at the end of the show Derren said the experiment had been to see how far the audience would go. I believe the man in that show was an actor and that Derren admitted it, saying the audience were the subject of the show not the man.

I wonder if there will be a similar twist.

TheOneWithTheHair · 27/10/2012 16:25

You lot have now got me wondering if there's going to be an extra twist. Hmm

zugos panini? are they for real?
wasn't friends on years ago?

TheOneWithTheHair · 27/10/2012 16:30

Then there has to be more to it BOF.

Derren and his team must have known that would be found so I think there's something more going on. They will have had a team googling Steve so I'm sure they knew the audience would find out too.

cornybeefhash · 27/10/2012 16:31

I don't think zugos paninis are for real

cornybeefhash · 27/10/2012 16:32

also that ad on you tube was posted by derren brown on 27th October...

3littlewomen · 27/10/2012 16:33

I went to uni with Derren, lived in the same halls of residence and was at one of his very first shows. He was, and I am sure still is a very nice guy who is incredibly good at what he does.

I can assure you no actors were placed in our shows (often done in our dining hall)- as we knew everyone, and the people picked were often the most unlikely candidates. He is a genuine showman, who demonstrates the power of suggestion and hyponotism to great effect!!

UltraBOF · 27/10/2012 16:41

It wasn't posted by Derren Brown, you dipstick Grin. That's just part of the clip's title.

TheOneWithTheHair · 27/10/2012 16:41

Curiouser and curiouser said Alice. Hmm

HeinousHecate · 27/10/2012 16:44

now, whether that's THE derren brown or not is unknown. But it does say that.

Oh well, he's got loads of people talking about him.

for someone in show business - that's a goal in itself!

UltraBOF · 27/10/2012 16:45

And the panini company is real, or the advert is, because I clearly remember that advert airing.

cornybeefhash · 27/10/2012 16:46

it has been uploaded by someone called derren brown!

Crimebusterofthesea · 27/10/2012 16:46

Am I being dumb, cos that youtube clip says it was posted by Derren Brown? I don't think my mind can cope with this - he is probably reading all of this now, stroking that little goatee of his.

UltraBOF · 27/10/2012 16:47

Zugos.

cornybeefhash · 27/10/2012 16:47

has anyone actually seen a zugos panini in the shops though?

Crimebusterofthesea · 27/10/2012 16:47

x-posts, sorry! Unlikely that it is the DB though.

UltraBOF · 27/10/2012 16:49

It has been posted anonymously (I can't copy and paste the name, but it is clearly there, and does not spell Derren!).

IslaValargeone · 27/10/2012 16:49

I think he's a great entertainer and would love to go to one of his shows.
Think he's very gorgeous too and soo would.

VivaLeBeaver · 27/10/2012 16:49

Well zugos paninis appear to be real. They have a website, are on special offer in morrisons according to mysupermarket.

TheHamish · 27/10/2012 16:49

If you google "Zugos Microwave Paninis Youtube" the same Youtube clip comes up posted under a different name in April this year.

My head is about to smeeeeeeeeg.

cornybeefhash · 27/10/2012 16:50

having a website doesn't make them real though that could have been created over a period of time
who's going to morrisons today? Grin
