to think that the deodorizer in Always sanitary pads

smells like old ashtrays? Just opening the packet smells horrible. I?m afraid other people will be able to smell them when I wear them so I've switched to a non-deodorized (and non-smelly!) brand.

I got a pack once by mistake. They are now at the back of the drawer for emergencies! They stink

perceptionreality · 23/10/2012 15:54

There was a discussion about this recently and everyone was saying how awful they smell and that they no longer buy Always.

VeritableSmorgasbord · 23/10/2012 15:55

There's another thread about this today. WTF were they thinking? (Presumably 'let's help the poor ladies' pants smell like periods AND Febreze, what a winning combo. And thrush too! Lovely.')

Kleinzeit · 24/10/2012 08:41

Ah well, at least it's not just me then!

OP posts:
Rikalaily · 24/10/2012 08:44

Can't use them because whatever it is in there makes me sore!

EdithWeston · 24/10/2012 08:44

I had a packet of these once by mistake (Internet shopping, I think I'd have noticed if I was picking up a packet from the shelf).

Vile.

Growlithe · 24/10/2012 08:46

That smell did me a favour - it give me the push to try another brand after years of putting up with the plasticky cover of Always. This really irritated me but I thought all 'ultras' would be the same. Much less itchy now Smile

tomme · 24/10/2012 08:49

I hate this too, what are you all using instead?

Growlithe · 24/10/2012 08:56

Wwwwwooooaaaaahhhh Bodyforrrrrrrmmmm Grin

mrswoz · 24/10/2012 09:31

Lil lets pads instead. No stinkies with them and they are fab. I have been using them after having baby 4 weeks ago and not a single leak either, winner!!

FruitbatAuntie · 24/10/2012 10:12

They smell VILE - like the cheapest, nastiest air freshener ever. My DP bought some for me after I'd given birth recently and I used one out of necessity (boaking as I opened the packet) then chucked the lot. Urgh.

WHY do Always think we need perfume in our pants? Feel itchy just thinking about it [hconfused].

ihatethecold · 24/10/2012 10:16

growlithe

That's funny!

Growlithe · 24/10/2012 10:57

ihate I can't say it, I can only sing it [hgrin]

FlobbadobbaBOO · 24/10/2012 11:14

I didn't think they smelt that bad before use, it was afterwards that the smell got horrific! Don't use them anymore now.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 24/10/2012 11:15

I refuse to buy them. My period doesn't need a signiture perfume, ta very much.

TeaBrick · 24/10/2012 11:18

The irony is, and I've only realised this since I've switched to Kotex (from the pound shop Wink), Always actually make the blood smell horrible, due to their plasticness, I assume. If you use another brand, it just smells of nothing much really Smile

Iodine · 24/10/2012 11:19

Has anyone passed on these complaints to Always? I can imagine a group of male managers sat around, scratching their heads and wondering why their sales are plummeting.

I have luckily avoided the scented ones but will buy bodyform next. I don't like this idea that periods smell and we need to hide it with fake fragrances (making it obvious to all around that we are on our period). Bleurgh.

Sounds like a recipe for Thrush. Sad Like the Shea Butter loo roll.

TeaBrick · 24/10/2012 11:22

Since I've been using a mooncup, and occasionally Kotex pads, it's been a revelation for me that periods DON'T smell.

IwanttoflyonA380 · 24/10/2012 12:20

I have switched to lilets pads and now don't get cramps :) I tried to email but couldn't find email address

ScaryFakeNails · 24/10/2012 12:29

Its not just the fact they've changed the product that has irritated me have you seen the ad recently? Saying that this group of 'girls' can party in a tiny space because they're dirty reeking period smell is now hidden?!

It really pisses me off every time I watch it.

ScaryFakeNails · 24/10/2012 12:30

*their

bigsnugglebunny · 24/10/2012 12:31

They are thrushtastic too, nasty things.

OHforDUCKScake · 24/10/2012 14:04

WHY do they think we need to change the smell of our vaginas during our periods?

Wtf were they thinking?

Periods arent fun, but theres one thing that bothers me the LEAST about a period is the smell.

Ive never heard someone say "Dont your just hate the smell of your vagina when you're on?"

No one says it because its never been a problem.

Yes it smells different but its not horrific and its FAR more unatural and disgutsing for a womens intimate parts to be smelling of a florist. (Or an ashtray).

How dare they make us feel as though we should be smelling nicer.

And dont even get me STARTED on femfresh!!!

Have you ever seen 'Cock Wash'? NO ME NEITHER!!
