standing in a car parking space

Hi all, i was a member here ages and ages ago and haven't got a clue what my details were so had to join again. Just wanted a rant and a bit of tlc and some input really.
Anyway, we were out today. Had to pop into boots and tesco for some last minute urgent stuff, nappies, milk, etc. The car park was pretty full and then a space suddenly became available. So, I got out of the car and stood there whilst my sister tried to reverse in. A car was righ behind her so she had to wait for him to reverse too. All the while Im stood there. Then before she has a chance to reverse in, the driver from the other side drives straight in, knowing full well that I'm stood there and just continues driving into me. Edging forward even though I'm there. I stood in shock and was shoved a lttle but he still continued until I was out of the way. Now, I'm asian and he was a white guy with his mrs - probably middle aged. He just got out of the car and went to the shop. His mrs just sat there and then piped up 'well you can't really stand there in a spot'. I said my sister's right behind you.
I think I was in shock more than anything, the mood I'm in now I could've battered him. Argghhhh! Now, I bet that he would't have done that if it was a strapping 6 foot guy.
I don't know bt U feel really upset. I've never really experienced racism before. Never really. And then this. And honestly, I started to think 'all white people are the same', until i pulled myself together and started to rationalise it. Still upset by it and bloody annoyed wth myself for not having caused a scene there and then or called the police. After all, driving into someone and actually pushing me.
What would you have done? Think?

She would join the BNP so that she could be at home and comfortable with people who are equally bigoted and judge people by the colour of their skins. A match made in heaven I would say.

carlyjamesb · 21/10/2012 18:28

Beingbooyhoo - wow, and you call me the idiot? To hate children for 6 months. How did you get away with that for 6 months and on mmsnet too?
I would have done it for a few minutes, but heyy, hope it was a small wall, and the 'bit' was a few minutes.

Goodness I would live to know what the man trying to park his car in the pace thinks about being labelled a racist.

OP you are the strangest poster on AIBU I have yet to encounter.

I'm not being racist when I say that

JustFabulous · 21/10/2012 18:30
Hmm
squeakytoy · 21/10/2012 18:30

If your sister cant put her indicators on, which would show she was going to pull into the space, and reverse into it without someone having to jump out and stand in the space to help her, then she shouldnt be driving in the first place..

carlyjamesb · 21/10/2012 18:31

Wow, the race thing really gets you ladies going hu? I think the ones going on with the race thing really need to get a grip. Wow, you do labour a point hu? Beitou - hardly a match made n heaven. But I guess this is the AIBU board. So I guess you are.

OP posts:
BeingBooyhoo · 21/10/2012 18:32

i am intolerant of people who cause me harm. some of those people are white, this does not mean i am intolerant of white people. can you not see how ridiculous your comments are? it isn't normal to hate a particular race because one person belonging to that race has harmed you.

HeinousHecate · 21/10/2012 18:32

I don't hold people who have never done anything to me responsible for the actions of someone who has, just because they shared an observable feature. If someone does something to me I will be intolerant of them. Just them.

waltermittymissus · 21/10/2012 18:32

Are you drunk?

carlyjamesb · 21/10/2012 18:33

Anyway, thanks to the few people that made me see sense and made me see that I was being irrational / unreasonable without going on and on.
Really appreciate the input.
Best wishes

You can't reserve a space for someone

He shouldn't have drove into you, but you should have moved

If your sister needs guiding into a car parking space she either needs to stop driving or find bigger spaces

It is in no way to do with race

BeingBooyhoo · 21/10/2012 18:34

ok, clearly not ever going to get the point so i'll stop trying.

JustFabulous · 21/10/2012 18:34

People are "going on and on" because you aren't getting it.

I assume you wouldn't have felt the same if the other driver had been Asian.

carlyjamesb · 21/10/2012 18:36

Beingbooyhoo, I think you have missed the point. In my OP I said I was temporarily racist, ie for a few minutes until I realised how irrational I was to hate everyone because of one person. I do have that ability to see that you can't judge everyone by one persons actions.
What I still believed though was that he was racist. UNTIL some people on here told me he wasn't and that that was irrational. There. The end.
If you would just stop and see that at no point did I say I continued to hate every white person or whatever. Just at that moment.

OP posts:
AgentProvocateur · 21/10/2012 18:36

I once had an Asian friend who used the racism card every time things didn't go her way. She is now an ex friend. I'm quite gob smacked that you don't see that your comment "all white people are the same" is the most offensive part of the whole saga.

Enigmosaurus · 21/10/2012 18:37

There's no such thing as temporarily racist.

YWBU to try and reserve a space.

Race has nothing at all to do with it.

carlyjamesb · 21/10/2012 18:41

OMG For everyone who believes that I said all white people were monsters, read the OP. I thought it for a few minutes, Is honesty not important here? I'm not perfect and I don't claim to be.
And yes, me with my thinking would have automatically thought that if it had been any nationality. JustFabulous, one of the things that made me 'rationalise' it was when I realised it could be anyone. And I have been mugged by asian people. Like I said, I'm not perfect. But you know, sometimes instead of screaming at people it may just be better to say you were wrong for thinking ... and rationalise why.

OP posts:
carlyjamesb · 21/10/2012 18:43

Agent Provacateur - I realised how stupid it was to group a whole lot of people together just because of one person, that's why it was irrational and that's why I mentioned it on here, because I was shocked that I could think such a thing. I REALISED I was wrong.

OP posts:
carlyjamesb · 21/10/2012 18:44

From the OP - And honestly, I started to think 'all white people are the same', until i pulled myself together and started to rationalise it

OP posts:
JustFabulous · 21/10/2012 18:45

I am not screaming at you Hmm.

beitou · 21/10/2012 18:46

Yes it is important that you thought all white people are the same. The BNP think all non white people are the same, can you not see the similarity. No you are not being unreasonable you are being a rascist and therefore a bigot. You don't claim to be perfect, well you are very far fromperfect in the same way Nick Griffin is not perfect.

Sirzy · 21/10/2012 18:49

Why did you mention race at all? In what way does race have ANYTHING to do with this? There is only one person who made it a race issue and that was you.

FeckOffCup · 21/10/2012 18:53

I know this will probably get deleted, but every one of the OP's posts read as if she is an immature teenager on a windup, trying to get maximum reaction.

Wow, the race thing really gets you ladies going hu? I think the ones going on with the race thing really need to get a grip. Wow, you do labour a point hu?

Hmm

Sorry everyone - that last post was put in by my very silly and very upset DS who decided it was fun to type under my name whilst I left the room. Angry Will try to get it deleted. Apologies again. I'm not happy.
