To straighten my 2 year olds hair?

My 2 year old dd has really frizzy wispy hair, it's quite long but looks very thin and straggly, like mine.

I was doing my hair a few weeks ago and she was watching so I did her hair with the GHD's as well. Shock

I put the heat spray on first, but is it really bad??

I have to admit it looked so much better, i usually have to put it in a pony tail as she never looks tidy.

I did it again today for the second time, once every few weeks is ok though, isn't it?

Yabu.. not ok. Her hair will go WORSE if you keep frazzling it like that.

Most 2 year old babies have frizzy hair. Let it be...she is TWO! It doesn't matter...whereas the risk of you burning her scalp DOES. I feel cross at the thought!

Would you put a hot iron next to your child's head and expect her to sit still? I didn't think so. You're being very, very silly. Just go to Boots and get some toddler hair stuff for tangly hair.

My DDs hair was terrible at that age. Always looked messy and so flyaway. And tying it up all the time made it worse.

When she was almost three I straightened it a few times on a low heat. Then took her to the hairdressers and she used GHDs on it! So after that I used full heat. Its maybe been straightened 10 times in total.

Its now much better. Gets blow dried and sits perfect. It didnt damage hers at all.

My dd has very curly hair and I have been tempted just to see what it looks like, but never actually have! You could have burned her very badly - GHDs are so hot! Plus very damaging to her baby hair. If her hair looks a mess take her for a good haircut and it will probably grow down thicker and tidier.

I was straightening DD1's hair last year for a party (she was nearly 6 I think) and she lifted up her hand unconsciously to feel it and burnt it. Got infected, needed antibiotics, not my finest hour. In summary, YABU.

And I tell you what: that St Tropez is good if babies & toddlers have pale skin.
Really gives them a good colour.

Wash her hair in conditioner only, make sure that the conditioner has no silicones in it ( dimethicone) when it's washed, gently squeeze the hair to remove any excess moisture, rub a very small amount of conditioner into your palm and smooth over the hair ,maybe a gentle comb through if knotted then leave to dry naturally, frizz should be reduced.

I wouldn't. I have lost count of the amount of times I have burnt my own hand or head with straighteners, so I couldn't possibly go near a wriggly two year old with them.

Why not just get het hair trimmed?

spray on conditioner, brush with soft bristle brush, put back if it is long enough.

YABU, you will ruin her hair. You will do damage that you can't see and it will break off and get split ends, especially if she already has fine hair. She is 2! Don't start trying to improve her image, she should have wild hair, most children do! You should tell her she is gorgeous everyday and make her grow up to be confident and happy with her apperance!

Baby fine hair is going to get totally frazzked with ghds. Do what binky says if the frizz bothers you that much

Dds hair is a MESS. But she's still lovely. She certainly doesn't care when she looks in the mirror.

Her only problem with her body is that she doesn't have a willy Sad, but she's getting over that Grin
