To think boys should have short hair?

Why would you want your little boy to have long hair?

Seriously, every time i watch Eastenders and Sharons kid comes on all i can think is "you need a haircut"

Worra, I get my Dd's hair cut like that because its easier to take care of and still looks feminine. She's 4.

Boys look cute with long hair. I think long hair on boys has come back into fashion since one direction came to be. When I go into town, nearly every preppie has the same hairstyle.

GrimAndHumourless · 17/10/2012 22:59

you are norty, Tony

IvorHughJackolantern · 17/10/2012 23:01

They are not biscuits, Op. They are sombreros for you to distribute to any overtly hairy boy childs you might see out and about, so that you can hide their offensive heads from view.

TonyMontanasGun · 17/10/2012 23:02

Yeah that kid from One Direction definitely needs a haircut

The biscuits are passive aggresive ways of telling you that people don't agree.
Personally I think yanbu, but just because I think boys look silly with long hair. Nothing to do with being gay, nothing about having to wear blue, just not keen myself. My dn has long hair and its in his face constantly. It can't ve clipped back, it can't be plaited and he can't use headbands. I just want to tell my sil to get him a decent fucking haircut.

Are threads on MN on a shorter 'cycle' than usual? I'm sure this one was only a couple of weeks ago.

So far this week we have had : parking, disability discrimination and now long hair on boys.

Reckon it must almost be time for a BF/FF bun fight...Grin

PrideOfChanur · 17/10/2012 23:04

Yep,YABU. When I was a girl, many years ago, lots of men had long hair.Quite a lot of girls had short hair.

Bring back the 60's and 70's,that's what I say Smile!

(DS has longish hair,he'd like it longer and moans if his ears and neck aren't covered - his friend gets irritated and demands a haircut when his hair touches his ears - each to his own.)

CouthyMowEatingBraiiiiinz · 17/10/2012 23:05

Oh, and YABU, OP.

My DS's heads, their hair. One Dustbin Beaver haircut, one short back and sides with top gelled up, one ginger fluff that he wishes was surfer length.

Their head, their choice.

OP

DO you think you should tell Sikhs they are wrong?

GwendolineScaryLacey · 17/10/2012 23:10

We're getting them out of the way before gearing up for the Christmas Fight, Couthy :o

OP, read some history books. You can tot up male short hair vs male long hair and see which wins.

I've read the op, but only scanned the thread.

OP - Biscuit Get a grip - we're not writing your next article for you.

I think it looks ok, but i did chuckle when a mum at school told me her reception son told her he got into a fight with a girl and she went to ask about it and was told it was a boy he was fighting with. Grin

skyebluezombie · 17/10/2012 23:32

A boy in Class 2 in DD's school has lively blonde curls halfway down his back. It is currently in a ponytail at schools request that all long hair is tied back due to nuts being around.

It's lovely hair but he does look like a little girl Grin

Mabelface · 17/10/2012 23:32

My 19 year old blond, gorgeous, waist length haired son would beg to differ. With his beard too, he's affectionately called Thor by his friends.

Disappearing · 17/10/2012 23:33

YANBU, unless the boy is old enough to agree to the long hair, otherwise I think toddlers with long hair look a bit like a yummy mummy accessory.

The only exception to this rule is my gorgeous nephew, who has long curly locks. Somehow (I'm sure it's not just bias), he seems to carry it off well.

I do love little girls to have short hair, it looks quite sophisticated.

PumpkInDublic · 17/10/2012 23:36

at children catching nuts Skye, maybe that's what happens if girls have short hair?

Looks over at Thor DP (who sounds like an older version of MadLizzy's DS.) Nothing more appealing than a man with long blonde hair and a beard. It curls slightly at the ends too

ReallyTired · 17/10/2012 23:36

DO you think you should tell Sikhs they are wrong?

Sikhs have the sense to tie their hair back in a turban and wash their hair every three days.

I have no problem with long hair on anyone provided its looked after. I feel sorry for very young toddlers who do not have their hair tied back as it envitably gets dirty and in the play while playing.

skyebluezombie · 17/10/2012 23:38

Epic fail, nits not nuts!

DioneTheDiabolist · 17/10/2012 23:38

Disappearing how can little boys be old enough to "agree" with short hair but not long hair?Confused

Fakebook · 17/10/2012 23:42

I love the nuts/nits typos. Once we had an Indian takeaway menu posted through our door and at the bottom in small print they'd written:

Please be aware, some dishes may contain nits

My brother doesnt look like my brother without long hair as he has always had it long & its not in his face either as some people seem to think long hair always gets in your face & you cant see what you are doing.

StuntGirl · 18/10/2012 00:01

Arf @ the suggestion long hair is because of One ruddy Direction! Grin

Mabelface · 18/10/2012 00:05

Pumpkin, ds had beautiful ringlets as a toddler. His hair waves now and still curls at the nape of his neck. If I could add. Pic, I would.
