Why does the bbc continue to employ the dreadful Bruce Forsythe?

Who is pictured this week in a lads' mag with a "bevy of beauties".

He is a terrible presenter. Cringe.

Also double standards re his age. Where are the octegenarian female presenters?

Weirdly, the only people on this thread raising the JS issue are those who say they admire Brucie.

The rest of us just don't like him because he's presenter who makes us feel bad watching him being a presenter.

There are also probably a massive viewing audience who are of a similar age to Bruce who have watched him presenting tv shows for many years and enjoy the show with him in it.

And if if I am wrong on that, sorry (recalls one post way upthread), but my point is that it's not OK to play the JS Card to damp down fair criticism of male presenters' poor presenting skills.

I love Bruce. We always had a joke my grandad was a mix between him and Barry Chuckle. It's always makes me smile when I see him.. Reminds me of my dear GD.

I was never that keen on him and now he is so far past his best it is embarassing for him and the whole crew. I don't even like watching the show whilst he is on. Mind you I don't like Claudia Winkelman either so the programmes not for me anymore.

I think claudia is gone. I couldn't watch her after they did her on the impressions show. You know once someone points out all the annoying things about someone, it's all you notice then.

I'd rather have five Brucies than one Tess 'rictus grin' Daly, any day.

YABU. Going against the flow here, but I think Brucie is class.

He's utterly dreadful, no idea why he was ever employed by them.

And who were the strange people campaigning for him to have a Knighthood?...Very, very odd.

I don't find him disgusting/hateful/creepy but I do think he's pretty rubbish nowadays and should be replaced by someone a bit more competent. Also his off the cuff remarks sometimes veer towards the homophobic, which is a real problem on Strictly.

However I think he's unsackable, and any attempt to get rid of him would bring down the most almighty shitstorm on the BBC with the Daily Fail leading a pitchfork wielding mob. He's a fixture until he retires of his own free will on health grounds.

Paul Daniels is on CBBC at the moment and I realised I feel about him the way other people feel about Brucie (who I like.) I find PD sooooo irritating!

I don't like to boast about my personal power and amazing spheres of influence, but I've had 'a word' with the BBC and ITV following the reviving of this thread and they have now both faithfully promised me that they will never commission any new programmes featuring Brucie or Paul Daniels ever again
