Who is pictured this week in a lads' mag with a "bevy of beauties".

He is a terrible presenter. Cringe.

Also double standards re his age. Where are the octegenarian female presenters?

OP posts:
sashh · 18/10/2012 04:19

I've disliked him for about 40 years, nothing to do with his age.

WineGoggles · 18/10/2012 10:19

YANBU. Bluergh sums up my feelings for him. He makes my flesh crawl.

CaptainVonTrapp · 18/10/2012 10:27

You don't know how he puts up with Tess?!! He can barely keep his hands off her.

DixieD · 18/10/2012 10:33

Wow this thread is very harsh.
Vile and rank? Why because he tells corny jokes and fluffs his lines?
I like him. I do ffwd through the scripted parts as those jokes are awful, but off the cuff he is funny. Last week Darcy told Kimberly that her chin was sticking out too much during her waltz and Bruce interjected with a 'how do you think I feel?' He pokes fun at himself a lot.
I don't think he is sleazy. He compliments people on looking well but not in a pervy way and says it to the blokes too.
I think people's views are being coloured by Jimmy Savil now.

SugariceAndScary · 18/10/2012 10:39

He's part of the Beeb furniture and I can't see them pushing him out. I won't miss him when he announces he's had enough of Strictly and the show won't suffer when he does pack it in.

I would like to see someone like Graeme Norton or Julian Clary host it.

Jusfloatingby · 18/10/2012 10:39

I think he suits the programme. It's old fashioned, a bit camp and a bit corny but enjoyable all the same.
And it is nice to see older people on television. Unfortunately, of course, that policy did not extend to Arlene Phillips who was replaced by the totally unsuitable Alesha Dixon.

RedBlanket · 18/10/2012 10:45

I loved The Generation Game and Play Your Cards Right when I was young.

The scripted jokes he does on Strictly he does is dire, and is delivery isnt great. But off script he's quite funny and people who've been to the live show say that off camera he's entertaining.

That said, I'd like to see him and Tess replaced.

StateofConfusion · 18/10/2012 10:53

He creeps me out a bit too, any other presented who bumbled as much as him would be out.
Sil has a weird obsession with him, really loves him, she's 22, it makes me gag.

EmBOOsa · 18/10/2012 12:59

"I think people's views are being coloured by Jimmy Savil now."

I think your view of people's views is being coloured by Jimmy Saville

I've avoided anything with Forsythe in for as long as I can remember, he makes me cringe.

SkiBumMum · 18/10/2012 13:05

I always think Vern & Tess should host jointly but then again who'd look after the kids Grin

notMarlene · 18/10/2012 13:21

What EmBOOsa said. Strongly disliked the chap from way back when.

OTOH I used to enjoy Jim'll Fix It as a kid.

Quadrangle · 18/10/2012 13:28

Has anyone seen the front cover of the latest edition of Private Eye? There's the headline "The Net Widens" and a photo of the old bbc test card with the girl saying to the clown puppet "You look creepy!" Grin

notMarlene · 18/10/2012 13:34
Grin
EmBOOsa · 18/10/2012 13:44

The clown puppet?? Forget the clown puppet, I always found her creepy Seriously, that was the look of someone coming up with some dastardly plan!

Quadrangle · 18/10/2012 13:50

scary test card girl

Clawdy · 18/10/2012 13:54

Not sleazy? First SCD show, gurning over the young,scantily-dressed Tracy Beaker girl, "Ooh,I don't know where to put my hands!" Hmm.....

THERhubarb · 18/10/2012 13:55

Unfortunately all the old male presenters that are above a certain age and working for the BBC are now going to be scrutinised to see if they were part of the Paedo Ring that surrounded Savile.

Forsythe has never been mentioned, not by any of Savile's victims or of the women who have come forward to tell stories about their experiences of leering and letching presenters/DJs/celebrities.

Whilst it's fine to not like him just because he's cheesy and most definitely of a bygone era when women were mere glamour models whilst men were funny and charming, it's not so good when a thread about him starts comparing his looks and manners to Savile. That's hardly fair.

Princessdivaaa · 18/10/2012 13:56

I think he's a legend!! I love him.. The best part is his cringey jokes...

AmIthatbad · 18/10/2012 13:59

I have never liked him, even in his Generation Games days. Always thought he was mean to contestants. He makes my skin crawl. Age or savile have nothing to do with it

Quadrangle · 18/10/2012 14:01

Well said THERhubarb

notMarlene · 18/10/2012 14:04

Here, here Rhubarb

PebblePots · 18/10/2012 14:04

I have to record Strictly so I can fast forward through Bruce

QuenelleIsOrangeAndGoldForNow · 18/10/2012 14:06

I like Brucie. And I like him on Strictly.

SmellyFartado · 18/10/2012 14:47

To lazy to work out our complicated freeview recorder so I usually put the ironing away/wash the dishes/tidy up when he's doing his cringey jokes or fucking tap dancing.

Don't feel any nostalgia towards him and just get irritated when I see him on TV - has nothing to do with age, he's just bloody annoying.

Abbicob · 18/10/2012 14:59

I like Bruce - keep him on strictly.
