Who is pictured this week in a lads' mag with a "bevy of beauties".

He is a terrible presenter. Cringe.

Also double standards re his age. Where are the octegenarian female presenters?

Polite laughter, urgh. The situation is crying out for a Jarvis Cocker mooning at Michael Jackson moment!

Lol Scarah! Rank

LineRunner · 17/10/2012 21:37

And it's not his age, not at all. I've always disliked him and wondered why he was so lauded by the BBC.

Les Dawson, on the other hand, was brilliant. As were Morcambe and Wise. They had timing, flair, intelligence, comedy genius and originality. Because Brucie doesn't have these qualities, his Original Selling Point seems to have become finding younger women attractive.

SoleSource · 17/10/2012 21:53

If you feel like it Linerunner, search In The Psychiatrists Chair - Les Dawson in Youtube. Fascinating.

ValentineWiggins · 17/10/2012 22:00

Agreed - can't stand Brucie! Can't watch Strictly except by recording it and ffwd through any of his bits!

freddiemed · 17/10/2012 22:00

He is terrible, can't believe he's been allowed to do another series of Strictly. Always have to watch recorded so can fast forward him and his "jokes" bleeuuugh.

freddiemed · 17/10/2012 22:01

Cross post with Valentine!

LineRunner · 17/10/2012 22:01

Thanks, Sole. Didn't know it was on You Tube.

LineRunner · 17/10/2012 22:03

Loads of posters on the SCD thread say they have to ffwd through the Brucie bits on Saturday.

QuickLookBusy · 17/10/2012 22:04

Can't stand him, it's not because he's old, it's because he can't tell a joke.

I saw the Loaded cover, I think it's very badly timed for him. why is posing with scantily clad women, who are old enough to be his grand daughters ok?

QuickLookBusy · 17/10/2012 22:06

Oh I loved Les Dawson. Such a shame he's not still around.

EmBOOsa · 17/10/2012 22:11

He's just not funny, he's like one of those relatives that everyone puts up with through gritted teeth and you have to pretend you find them funny or they are liable to spend the next few hours nudging you and saying, "d'ya geddit? huh? geddit?", while all the teenagers avoid them like the plague because they keep making them really uncomfortable with deeply inappropriate jokes. And there'll always be someone around to tell you that you have to humour them because they are old and mean well.

He was great when he did Have I Got News For You. And initially he was good when Strictly came back. But that was nearly 10 years ago. He needs to be put out to pasture.

CaptainVonTrapp · 17/10/2012 22:14

Another who records and fast forwards through the Bruce moments.

How Tess holds her smile I just don't know.

I'd love to see her presenting it with Claudia every Saturday. Or, quite frankly any up and coming talent of which I'm sure there is loads for a fraction of the price I fear he is being paid

EmBOOsa · 17/10/2012 22:14

Oh and the women daren't wear anything revealing around them because they know they'll have to put up with leery comments (disguised as good natured jesting of course Hmm) or uncomfortable physical contact. Note the contact will be uncomfortable but not inappropriate enough that they can be told to sod off without someone going on about it being harmless.

CaptainVonTrapp · 17/10/2012 22:17

Think we're a long way off octogenarian female presenters kim147 especially ones who have a stunning co-presenter young enough to be their grandchild...

Dozer · 17/10/2012 22:19

Tess Daly isn't my favourite presenter, but all credit to her for professionalism and forbearance!

YyEmboosa, but in this case the whole audience and production team, amd viewers have to humour him.

Maybe will try to get into the audience and stage some kind of protest.....

Have got some v nice new Strictly-style gold dancing shoes that could wear.

pithtaker · 17/10/2012 22:23

Another here who won't watch Strictly because of him.

We have plenty of donkey sanctuarys in this country, surely someone can

open a 'Brucie' sanctuary, or, if not, lump him in with the sodding donkeys.

mamij · 17/10/2012 22:25

I can't stand him either. He's a bit too leery for my liking.

Can't believe he's still on SCD when they got rid of Eileen. Can we swap please?

EnjoyVampirebloodResponsibly · 17/10/2012 22:37

I LOVE HIM. He's actually funnier when he's ad-libbing rather than reading the scripted jokes. They always sound like they've been written by a script writer, and its evident that Bruce's eyesight isn't what it used to be.

There's a slight tone to some of these posts. I'm starting to think if you worked at the BBC at all in the 70's/80's, people will assume you at the very least knew all about He Who Must Not Be Named.

Startailoforangeandgold · 17/10/2012 22:38

Because if he wasn't we'd get Graham Norton, who I truly cannot watch.

LineRunner · 17/10/2012 22:40

What tone? That I loved Les Dawson, Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise?
