What's a JP?

UnChartered · 16/10/2012 14:21

ok Prince Charming, wtaf is a JP?

FryOneGhoulishGhostlyManic · 16/10/2012 14:21

It's not just the bowls though, is it?

Went for a meal last friday (10 of us) and Mum said meal was fine but she would have preferred it served on a plate instead of the chopping board thingy Grin

MrsKeithRichards · 16/10/2012 14:22

Jacket potato!

Portofino · 16/10/2012 14:23

John Prescott? Juicy pear?

UnChartered · 16/10/2012 14:24

ah (thanks MKR)

but it stops all the luvverlie butter and cheese escaping

EchoBitch · 16/10/2012 14:24

I prefer spag bol in a bowl, easier to manage, and stir fry, mostly i prefer my food on a nice round white plate,Smile

ClippedPhoenix · 16/10/2012 14:25

Yes, whats a JP when it's about?

Oh and FryOne, I had a burger meal served on a chopping board the other day and all the ruddy chips kept falling off the ends Angry

Poncy and impractical so totally with your mum on that.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 16/10/2012 14:25

Yabu, it's easier to contain the buttery goo at the bottom of the dish and mop up with the potato skin. Not poncetastic, just use fingers for that bit.

Woozley · 16/10/2012 14:25

I prefer big flattish bowls to a plate. Harder to send your food flying over the side. I like the chopping board style where it makes sense such as for a Ploughmans or a pizza.

EchoBitch · 16/10/2012 14:27

Looks like YABU op Grin

FryOneGhoulishGhostlyManic · 16/10/2012 14:27

Mum had a steak , chips and peas, all with potential to drop off the board! Cousin had the same, along with a sauce to go on the steak, so even more potential to get messy....

I had gammon steak and got lucky - I got a plate.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 16/10/2012 14:27

Jacket potayto you tweedles.

But how can you use you k&f properlike when you have sides to contend wuth?

SB is fine - that's a forking meal, non?

SlightlyJaded · 16/10/2012 14:28

But what's [adam ant] ?

Rant?

UnChartered · 16/10/2012 14:28

you have to eat it with the fork only, like your mum's not watching and you've sneaked into the lounge to eat it in front of the TV Wink

ChaosTrulyReigns · 16/10/2012 14:29

I so am NOT, EchoVitch!

And don't OP me, please, makes me feel all lonely and sad.

OP posts:
EchoBitch · 16/10/2012 14:29

It certainly is a forking meal Chaos.

I hate chopsticks,we went to a friends last Saturday and had Chinese and were given bloody chopsticks,i had to ask for a fork,CBA with fucking around with CPs while my Singapore noodles go cold in their bowl.

KenLeeeeeee · 16/10/2012 14:30

Soup, stir-fry, spag bol, curries, paella, naice salad - meals we regularly cook that are eaten from a bowl (admittedly our bowls are wide and shallow, so more like a plate with sides iyswim).

Jacket potatoes are a plate meal though! Same with steak, roast dinners, fajitas (and assorted Mexican food inna wrap).

EchoBitch · 16/10/2012 14:30
EchoBitch · 16/10/2012 14:34

Crumbles in corner?...sorry,Sad

Apple crumble should be eaten from a bowl, with lashings of custard.

FryOneGhoulishGhostlyManic · 16/10/2012 14:37

KenLeeeeeee's bowl meals sound good and I'd add any rice meal eg risotto.

Jacket potatoes should be on a plate. Agree with Chaos on that one! Smile

ChaosTrulyReigns · 16/10/2012 18:02

Why tvym, FryOne.

See?

I knew I was right alwats am.

Steak is great served on a board though so you can cut it properly. Peas probably need their own little dish in such cases though.

catsmother · 16/10/2012 18:10

I had a meal on a slab of slate once. Looked pretty enough but the experience was somewhat spoiled as cutting anything was akin to scraping your nails down a blackboard each time you wanted another mouthful. Shudder.
