to think that banning the use of the word "God" is a bit much?

Need the opinions of many women and Mothers here...
The wife has suddenly stated that she is "offended" by our three kids (and me) saying "oh God" or "God in heaven" or "for God's sake" etc as she has recently become a bit God Squad and rediscovered her Christianity.

Caused a huge row over the kitchen table three nights ago and it rumbles on with wife being pretty committed to the idea that no one should be allowed to say "Oh God" or "for God's sake" etc.,

My view is that this is unreasonable (and a bit silly) and even if you take it seriously in terms of not offending peoples' religious ideas - still a bit silly.

Am I wrong?

It's been rumbling on for three days and nights now and I need something...

All and any cast iron responses to the religious bullying very much appreciated.

Oh yes of course LRD, I can quite easily take it when it's one on one, but since there's three of you and I've had a bit to drink, it's a tad annoying.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 13/10/2012 22:20

Even if what was what?

I don't define myself by my feminism. What I have here is a username. I'm not an actual dragon, it's true. Sad

If you would like to understand why it's laughable to refer to a feminist 'regime', go read up. Or utilize your brain. Either one works.

Portofino · 13/10/2012 22:21

eh? Who have I disrespected?

BlameItOnTheCuervForHumanBlood · 13/10/2012 22:21

eh? you thought that was rude? and didnt see rudeness in your own post? the scene you described is a fantasy scene. as most of these ads are. as if its so incomprehensible that a woman could in any way be dominant over a man, it must just be a fantasy.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 13/10/2012 22:21

Oh, ok, you're pissed, and seeing three of me.

And you think I am a dragon.

Right then.

Time for beddy byes.

BlameItOnTheCuervForHumanBlood · 13/10/2012 22:22

actually, when its one on one your posts are just as rude and unpleasant.

Portofino · 13/10/2012 22:23

And me LRD....

You had to use that word, didn't you?

Why don't you see that being disablist just ... makes you whole argument utterly pointless.

BlameItOnTheCuervForHumanBlood · 13/10/2012 22:28

cretins? nice.

goodnight.

GhostShip · 13/10/2012 22:34

There you go, lets utter another buzz word that'll get people frothing 'disablist'!

I thought cretin was akin to gremlin. I've never even heard it used it the way it's supposed to mean (just googled when you said disablist)

LRDtheFeministDragon · 13/10/2012 22:36

Cretin means someone who is congenitally mentally disabled.

I am really glad you didn't know what it meant.

It would be nice if you'd apologize for using it anyway, but I'm not holding my breath.

InSPsFanjoNoOneHearsYouScream · 13/10/2012 22:37

Isn't cretin a word used in monsters inc?

I might be mistaken but I didn't think it meant anything like that either.

ClippedPhoenix · 13/10/2012 22:38

cake anyone? It's yellow not pink or blue? Grin

WorraLiberty · 13/10/2012 22:39

I have to admit I didn't realise that word was disablist either

I just thought it meant idiot.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 13/10/2012 22:40

I don't know monsters inc, I only know what the word means.

I do really hate it, it upsets me. Which a word shouldn't, I know.

It does really, seriously have a horrible meaning.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 13/10/2012 22:40

Cross post

worra, don't worry, people don't always know. I just happen to know and I really don't like it.

GhostShip · 13/10/2012 22:41

LRD no I won't apologise because I never meant anything of the kind in using it. I'm glad spsfanjo was of the same thought. :)

Funny though, how you've tried to imply I have mental health issues throughout this but then take great offense when I say something, unknowingly, is 'disablist'.

YouMayLogOut · 13/10/2012 22:41

A feminist regime is when certain feminists wont let other women voice their opinions about men and sexism towards men without belittling them into shutting up.

I've been a feminist for years and have never had a woman try to prevent me from voicing my opinion.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 13/10/2012 22:43

worra (or others): here - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cretinism

ghost, well, that's remarkably graceless of you.

I didn't imply mental health issues. I said you should see a doc if you were seeing funny things, then you admitting you were seeing triple because you were pissed.

Last time I checked, being an angry drunk isn't a mental health condition.

GhostShip · 13/10/2012 22:43

I thought so until I came on this forum. Where if I dare say 'its the same for a man' or insinuate that our differences are becoming thinner, I get shot down and patronised.

WorraLiberty · 13/10/2012 22:44

Thanks LRD

I can't remember the last time I used the word (thankfully) but at least I know not to use it again.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 13/10/2012 22:45

worra - honestly, it's fine! Thanks for saying that though, makes me feel as if I'm not being daft to say what it means.

InSPsFanjoNoOneHearsYouScream · 13/10/2012 22:47

Monsters inc is a child's.film by Pixar. One character calls another it I believe. That is why I didn't think twice about it.

I know now though so though I never used it myself I will be telling others that do.

gordyslovesheep · 13/10/2012 22:47

I blame Thatcher
