Paggy upduffed Shock

At her age?

TantrumsAndBalloons · 10/10/2012 16:32

Who the actual fuck Pms you hundreds of times a day?

What do they pm you about for crying out loud.

Absy · 10/10/2012 16:32

I wouldn't ignore a thread if I didn't know the OP.

I only ignore threads if I know they're going to be a bunfight/make me upset/are very boring. Nada to do with the OP. Likewise, I don't purposely seek out threads started by people I know. Which is why I'm always late to the thread parties.

SoleSource · 10/10/2012 16:33

OhDeerHauntingFENTON · 10/10/2012 16:33

TantrumsAndBalloons · 10/10/2012 16:34

Yes ignore ignore ignore.

We know there's not 100 people who want to pm you Grin

ExitPursuedByAaaaaarGhoul · 10/10/2012 16:34

Everlong - you mean that isn't you?

I don't believe Hully and her PMs.

DeWe · 10/10/2012 16:34

The only poster I notice really is Chaos when her phone was playing up. Grin

Hullygully · 10/10/2012 16:35

It's mainly people begging for sexual favours and money, you know how it is.

Who is ED then?

OP posts:
RandallPinkFloyd · 10/10/2012 16:35

Bit of both I think, for everyone if they're completely honest.

I don't have any friends on here but of course you become familiar with some posters and can see either common ground or a similar sense of humour etc.

I do generally look at the post before the poster but if it's someone you think is a complete knob jockey it's hard not to let everything they say annoy you. Sort of like, "hark at her being all reasonable and funny like the total bitch she is" type of thing!

JustSpiro · 10/10/2012 16:35

I'm on one of the minor quiches, but otherwise I just respond to whatever threads interest me.

FunnysInLaJardin · 10/10/2012 16:36

and thinking about it, the reason why some of the same poeple show up on the same threads is that over time you get to know which discussions are worth getting involved in and which aren't. I rarely post now on anything a bit PO as I cba with the inevitable pointless arguing

Baaartimaeus · 10/10/2012 16:36

I respond to posts.

I had a German penpal who sent a photo with the first letter. My mum and I spent ages trying to work out if it was a girl or a boy Confused In the end I replied and wrote "Miss" on the envelope.

I still remember the snotty, condescending reply saying he was a boy and so I should not write "Miss" on the envelope. Should have replied telling him not to wear a hairband in his medium-length hair then but didn't. We still wrote for a few months though.

LadyBeagleEyes · 10/10/2012 16:36

I dunno, if we all only responded to the posters we've got to know and like, what's the chance of a newbie ever being listened to?
We were all new once you know, and it can be quite intimidating to start a thread.
So, yes, if the subject interests me I will join the thread.
If the poster is an arsehole I find out soon enough. Most people are nice though.

MaryZed · 10/10/2012 16:37

Posts, mostly

I always, always always respond to posts on serious threads. I would never agree on a serious thread with someone just because I "knew" them or because they were a long term or known poster. Never.

On obviously arsing around threads, I often acknowledge and reply to those I recognise.

StuntGirl · 10/10/2012 16:37

Mumsnet make it harder than most forums to identify individual posters. So posts, usually. Although I will sometimes respond to a particular post by a person within the thread too.

CouthyMowWearingOrange · 10/10/2012 16:37

Both!

OneMoreChap · 10/10/2012 16:37

Respond to posts.
Try very hard not to Hmm at certain usual suspect posters, and I'm sure they do the same.

I got a new one torn for talking about another thread, and one poster said, don't worry about it, leave things on the thread, and it'll be different tomorrow.

I think she's since reconsidered as I post here 2 years on ;-)

MaryZed · 10/10/2012 16:38

Oh, and I always acknowledge newbies and positively encourage them to post more.

I think the reason so many "oldies" turn up on the same threads is that we all have 90% of the board hidden, so we are all crowded in the remaining 10% (and most active).

OhDeerHauntingFENTON · 10/10/2012 16:38

hmm, Ed is familiar it's true.

Right, I have to go now.

I need Everlong's recent namechange and who Ed was in my inbox by 8pm please.

Thank you, and Good Evening.
