Keep seeing stuff saying blah blah cliques talking to each other

.v.

blah blah don't notice names, respond to posts.

How is it for you?

OP posts:
LadyClariceCannockMonty · 10/10/2012 16:11

'The post, but there are a few names I like reading there post/ response'.

Seconded.

PedanticPanda · 10/10/2012 16:11

Posts, I really don't notice the names. Obviously a few stick out as I've seen them so often since I joined a couple of years ago , but I usually forget posters names. I could have a very heated debate with a poster on a thread one day and will honestly forget their poster name by the next day.

Posts. The only name I ever read is the OP, I usually read the first page and then if I wonder how it's developing I just scan the following pages for the OP's name.

ithinkimightbegoingmad · 10/10/2012 16:13

solesource you have a PM friend??? do people PM each other? Confused

Floggingmolly · 10/10/2012 16:14

You know everyone will say posts. But you also know that's not quite true.

Well known posters are treated with much more... - respect isn't quite the right word, but they're certainly responded to differently.

sugariceAndScary · 10/10/2012 16:14

Posts.

MardyBra · 10/10/2012 16:14

A bit of both tbh.

ObiWan · 10/10/2012 16:14

A bit of both.

I sometimes read an OP, and have to look at the author to weigh up the chances of it being intentionally on the funny side.

If it's poster I recognise, I guess I respond to what I know of them.

Pagwatch · 10/10/2012 16:15

I read threads according to the title/subject

I follow the conversation and will respond to a post that interests me or annoys me or makes me laugh

I will often respond to posters on a thread if I really like them because I am alone and friendless.

Hullygully · 10/10/2012 16:15

usual was honest, flogging.

I dunno, I thought more people would say posters, yes.

Do you think they have FIERY PANTS??

OP posts:
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 10/10/2012 16:16

Both. On long running threads it is a mix of chatting amongst friends whilst welcoming newcomers. If I see one of my "friends" in a different topic area I will generally just respond as if I don't already know them though.

Apart from that, I do notice a lot of regular posters and get a feel for personalities in some cases but try to respond as though I have only seen them on that thread. There are some people that I just know will press my buttons so I tend to avoid threads where they are active, or only respond to other poster's points. There are also some posters that I have an enormous amount of respect for and will read a thread just because they started it.

Hullygully · 10/10/2012 16:16

Bit of a theme going there pagster, doll.

OP posts:
UndeadPixie · 10/10/2012 16:16

I respond to posts. But I recognise various posters and if I remember one for a particular reason it may colour my reply.

Hullygully · 10/10/2012 16:16

yy who knows, not always approp to chat.

OP posts:
ThatBloodyKnid · 10/10/2012 16:17

Mostly posts, I think. And there are some posters I would never respond to, like that HullyGully.

IvorHughJackolantern · 10/10/2012 16:17

I do look at the poster in AIBU and if it's a known moron someone I usually get het up about then I click out again. Otherwise, nay. Though you can always tell a Chaos title without having to look Wink

diddl · 10/10/2012 16:17

Posts-I rarely notice who has posted.

OwlLady · 10/10/2012 16:18

i do name search and refer to my spreadsheets Wink

TantrumsAndBalloons · 10/10/2012 16:18

I respond to posters. Of course you recognize people's name and posting styles, and respond accordingly. Or join a thread that you wouldn't normally join if you see a poster who you have a giggle with.

Or I do anyway

ScrambledSmegsEvilTwin · 10/10/2012 16:18

Bit of both. Depends on the thread.

If it's a long-running thread in a quieter topic, it's all about the posters and sense of community.

Sometimes if I recognise the names I will respond to posters, as I'm more able to get the context if I know their personality.

If I don't 'know' them (majority of MNers) then I respond purely on the basis of the post.
