To be disgusted by the guests on Jeremy Kyle?

I think i've watched this show less than ten times. This morning was one of those times.

There was a woman who had three potential fathers to her child, and had attacked one of the men for being a bad dad - turns out he wasn't even the dad.

There was a feckless father boasting JK pays for his drugs.

Guests laugh along when JK mocks them - making them look daft.

Guests don't seem to take any pride in their personal appearance.

They all shout and scream like children, despite them having children themselves.

I hate JK, but I hate the attitudes and lifestyles of the majority of his guests even more.

Only watched it this morning because I couldn't find the remote.

As much as people say that people like this are in the minority, JK has been running for over five years, five days a week, with at least two new guests per show.

I DON'T watch it Loobylou.

I stopped watching it when they had an terribly mentally ill person on who was suffering from paranoid delusions, and they used him and his poor, poor abused wife for ENTERTAINMENT.

Me not watching doesn't preclude me from having an opinion on it, or expressing that opinion, or even from saying that I believe that this programme WILL end up resulting in violent deaths and/or suicides of some of the "guests".

BupcakesAndHaunting · 10/10/2012 16:34

"I also am very Hmm at the concept of a show presented by a reformed gambling addict being sponsored by foxy bingo"

I always think that Grin

It's a bit like Lisa Riley sponsoring the Atkins diet

Sorry, sorry...

Loobylou222 · 10/10/2012 16:56

I wasn't talking to you specifically Shirley, of course you are free to air your opinion but there are always going to be programmes that offend/upset/ enrage ppl so the best thing to do is to not watch

oldraver · 10/10/2012 17:00

I dont tend to watch as it as I'm not really interested in the content and the constant screeching gets on my nerves.

I did pop into a friends yesterday and she said "ohh quick come in, Jeremy Kyle is on, he always makes you feel good about your life"

I was amazed how these blokes mingers manage to pull so many women

DolomitesDonkey · 10/10/2012 17:02

I just feel desperately sorry for them being so pig ignorant. I caught my first ever episode the other day showing a young woman being called a liar (by several estates) because her doctor wouldn't phone her dad re: her miscarriage.

The girl wasn't able to defend herself against this "troof" because she was obviously unaware of the concept of patient confidentiality.

lisad123 · 10/10/2012 17:02

I Hate it!! Clearly most of the guest are people in need of serious help and advice. And he belittles them, bullies them and I'm pretty sure some come off worst from it. It's not trained in mh and clearly is a twat

hiddenhome · 10/10/2012 17:06

I used to like it when they had a variety of guests on, but now I can't even understand what they're trying to say and they just shout and argue all the time. I know JK winds them up and they're more to be pitied than ridiculed, but they still irritate me and I find it hard to comprehend that people like this can even get themselves dressed each morning they seem so useless Sad

(sorry for being judgey)

FlaminNoraImPregnantPanda · 10/10/2012 17:09

I used to like it too. Went off him when he shouted at a woman who'd had her boyfriend at the birth rather than the biological father that this wasn't her decision to make, that the biological father had every right to be there and who the hell did she think she was was to dictate otherwise. Hmm

VodkaJelly · 10/10/2012 17:48

A friend of DP's was on JK last year. Friend is a bit of a tool but didnt deserve the tirade he got. Even when explaining why he couldnt do something JK wouldnt listen and kept on at him.

ShirleyRots · 10/10/2012 17:53

Looby - but saying "if you don't like it, don't watch it" and that people are always going to be offended by stuff is two different things. I don't watch lots of things/people I find offensive (jim Davidson springs to mind) but I will not stop saying that The JK is actually damaging and a powderkeg just waiting to go off.

Saying "don't watch it then!" is just a way of saying "look the other way" I'm not going to do that! I think it's a terrible, terrible programme and I just wish people would stop watching it because then it would finally be off the schedule.

lisad123 · 10/10/2012 18:00

I know a girl that went on to prove a man was father of her baby. She said not was horrible, they shut you in a room, like to wind you up and give no help after. She tried to back out beforehand and got bullied into doing it Sad

Loobylou222 · 10/10/2012 18:00

Well I don't think that's gonma happen but if u feel that strongly them maybe u should complain to ofcom or something?

ShirleyRots · 10/10/2012 18:05

Maybe I have! Grin

Unfortunately, all the while that people are watching it, and getting some sort of kick out of laughing at those less fortunate than themselves, I fear you're right.

Still, everything comes to an end eventually. It's the circle of life.

Loobylou222 · 10/10/2012 18:15

That's true. I suppose it is the same at bgt and x factor we (as a country) fond other ppls misfortune/ humiliation. Having read some of the comments on here I have changed my opinion on the show, but all the while it's making itv money it will stay on air

HecateLarpo · 10/10/2012 18:18

What disgusts me is the way that people, many of whom you can clearly see have problems, eg mh, drug, alcohol, coping with abuse, etc, etc - are manipulated and exploited for tv entertainment.

They are put there for people to laugh at, sneer at and look down on (people who like to do such things, of course) and it is wrong.

HecateLarpo · 10/10/2012 18:20

And don't get me started on Mr knows nothing about anything but has got an opinion on everything Kyle. That man is revolting.

sparkle12mar08 · 10/10/2012 18:20

It's just modern day bear baiting. Disgusting and immoral. And that's the producers not the guests.

ShirleyRots · 10/10/2012 18:24

Yay! Looby - good for you. Grin

butisthismyname · 10/10/2012 18:26

bupcakes the aftercare bloke did turn up - Graham came on and tried to tell the bloke that he'd been offered help - his family agreed with graham - I mentioned this upthread.

GoldShip · 10/10/2012 18:29

They don't provide any counselling LoobyLou. They just bear bait them and then set them back into their old lives.

wrong. Not sure if any of you seen the episode where the young blonde lad took his mum on because she was a drug addict. How he had to steal food from the shop for him and his little brother to eat.

He's my friend.

They've helped them brilliantly.

ShirleyRots · 10/10/2012 18:37

That's interesting golds hip, and goes against most things I've read about the show. It doesn't change my opinion that JK treats his "guests" appallingly, he is an abusive bully and again, I strongly disagree with the way that vulnerable people are exploited.

OwlLady · 10/10/2012 18:41

Only watched it this morning because I couldn't find the remote

lol, that is so funny

I think the people are exploited too though. My stepdad worked with a bloke who went on Trisha, years ago now when it was on itv, and him and his wife wanted a baby. i think he was 20 and she was 60 or something sensational but trisha paid for them to stay in a hotel, paid their food and drink tab etc and I think they treated it as a day out. Not sure if that happens on jk, maybe people do it for the same reasons. They went on this morning too and I think that gloria hunniford program

FellatioNelson · 10/10/2012 18:43

I love the JK show. I watch very infrequently but when I do I am gripped. But I am never quite sure who horrifies me the most. The people on the show or JK himself.

Gunznroses · 10/10/2012 18:46

What i would like an answer to is, why is it so many of the guests have lots of teeth missing ? Or just terribly rotten and crooked ?

BupcakesAndHaunting · 10/10/2012 18:46

I wouldn't trust a word that comes out of that Graham Stanier's mouth., He is Goebels to Kyle's Hitler.
