Or maybe even a 28HH? What's your across bust measurement?

JollyJack · 09/10/2012 16:04

Thank you all. I am scooping, I think. If it means leaning forward and jiggling, trying to get all my cup in the bra. I will have a browse of the websites and order a few. I think that's a great idea. Thanks :)

SorrelForbes · 09/10/2012 16:05

Not just jiggling, but literally using your hand to scoop all the flesh from under your arms and your back into the cups. Tis very attractive!

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/10/2012 16:16

Yup, scooping is far more forceful than jggling. It gets rid of back and underarm fat- often winds up showing a need to go down in back and up in cup too.

JollyJack · 09/10/2012 16:38

I shall try that too!

mrsrosieb · 09/10/2012 18:37

Bras over a D cup require different material and are apparently far more expensive to manufacture.

No shop wants to label a particular bra one price for smaller cup sizes and a different price for bigger cups-consumers would not like that.

That is why. It is not some sort of discrimination, it is just about profit margins.

SorrelForbes · 09/10/2012 19:09

Hmmm, I get that mrsrosieb, but there are always loads of 34Cs around and technically they're the same cup volume as a 32D, a 30E and so on. This link is brilliant fullerfigurefullerbust.com/2012/08/16/bra-sizes-do-not-exist-without-back-sizes/

Bunbaker · 09/10/2012 19:23

"Bunbaker, if all bra sice calculators claim you are a 34A or AA, you are probably around 30D."

I wish, but I am most definitely not a D cup in any shape or form. M & S 34A T-shirt bras fit me exactly.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/10/2012 19:35

Honestly Bunbaker, the size calculators are absolute tripe. You may be a 34a if that is what actually fits, but the M&S size chart for example lists a 34A as measuring 29.5, 33. In reality someone with those measurements is actually more like a 30D - they still use an old fashioned measurement method that isn't correct.

An A cup means there should only be a difference of approximately 1 inch between your underbust and overbust measurements.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/10/2012 19:36

Sorry, that should say 30C or D.

mrsrosieb · 09/10/2012 19:37

sorrell i am just going off something Theo said on Dragon's Den when they had a pitch from a firm that made bigger cup size bras

HazleNutt · 09/10/2012 19:37

Bunbaker, could you tell us your under- and overbust measurements? D does not necessarily mean you're massive, really.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/10/2012 19:42

I heard that comment too Rosieb - it's just silly (from his POV) as it takes a cup size as being an absolute measurement. The weight of a d cup on say a 28 back is far far less than the weight of a d cup on a 40 back. Compare the two in a shop one day - I suspect a 28D cup will be roughly the size of your fist, and the 40D will practically fit on your head.

HauntedLittleLunatic · 09/10/2012 19:54

bunbaker someone upthread recommended a bra size calculator which doesn't use the +4/5 method.

I think it was called perfect pair.

Honestly I have learnt that most guides for bra size are incorrect. If your measurements lead m&s to conclude you are a 34A you are most definitely not.

M&s, next, Tesco all the bra size calculators say I am a 38A (which you can't buy).

Sorrelforbes, statistically challenged and co say I am a 32D/DD or 34C/D.

I got myself measured in debenhams as a 34C. The woman did say I was between a 32 and 34.

I have since bought some new bras in 32D. I'm not convinced my 36A bras were particularly bad but I definitely have a better profile in my new bras. Sorrel and statisically will tell you how much I argued with them. I even listed about 6 different websites which insisted I was a 38A.

As they say if you are happy and comfortable and have bras that suit you great. But as I found out quoting the m&s size calculator is not good enough evidence of an accurate bra size :)

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/10/2012 20:00

Whatever do you mean Haunted? You weren't even remotely hard to persuade......Wink

Bunbaker · 09/10/2012 20:01

M & S haven't measured me. I try the different sizes on and the 34A fits me exactly so why should I try another size?

HauntedLittleLunatic · 09/10/2012 20:02

Here's the site which is recommended to be accurate calculator. I havent tried it as I am on my phone and it uses java. Perhaps one of the gurus could give their opinion and then you can tell us what size this recommends :)

www.sophisticatedpair.com/bracalculator.htm

Bunbaker · 09/10/2012 20:02

And I haven't used any of the online size calculators to measure what size I need. I just try bras on instead. Isn't that what the experts do?

HauntedLittleLunatic · 09/10/2012 20:04

I thought you said the online calculator said 34A? That's what I meant.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/10/2012 20:05

Sorry Bunbaker, you said upthread that you had tried lots of online calculators..... so I took you at your word.

Yes, trying on and experimenting is the best way to get the correct size. Although it is important to know what a well fitting bra looks like, which many women (not you personally, an in general comment) don't.

SorrelForbes · 09/10/2012 20:06

Isn't Theo connected to La Senza who have suddenly stopped producing bras over a D cup? Wink

HauntedLittleLunatic · 09/10/2012 20:07

Xposts.

When I was fitted they measured underhand to get that right and then she decided my cups where right on my current bra so adjusted the letter to take into account the smaller band. Triied it and realised wasn't quite right so tried another.

So in my limited experience they do measure under but not over.

SorrelForbes · 09/10/2012 20:07

Bottom line Bunbaker is that if you're happy then that's all that matters. Can you just humour me though and tell me how many fingers you can get under the band of the 34A?

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/10/2012 20:08

I think he used to own La Senza, sold it before it flopped then set up Boux Avenue...could be wrong tho

MadameCupcake · 09/10/2012 20:27

Bunbaker a 36E fits me but is not the best size to make me look my best - a 32GG or 34G seems to be much better, in fact 32GG is probably the best fit. I measure 31.5 under bust.

You may be really surprised. I went through my pre-kids years wearing a 34C, then a 36C and now I am in a 32 back. SIL was wearing a 34B and is now in a 30E I think - she really looks like an A cup but now her boobs look so much better in her new bras.
