Ohh, could I join in with a plea for help. Im a 32 across the back and a 38 over my breasts. Am currently wearing a 34E which looks like a good fit but leaves me with painful red marks at the sides of my rib cage -I basically go braless under my dressing gown after 7pm as I can't wait to feel less restricted. I feel like my back fat (nice!) spills out a bit under my current bra too.
Any help?
Loving the thread, thanks op, hopefully Ill be online shopping this evening and throwing out my grey, once white bra in favour for something more comfortable in a pretty colour!

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/10/2012 14:21

We are terrible! But haunted has definitely earned her gold star bra geek badge!

But gock, get ye a 28 and probably up a couple of cups. A 26 might even be better but finding those is a bit like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/10/2012 14:22

Swimming, 32e to start but if the cup feels ok on current also try an f

SorrelForbes · 09/10/2012 14:25

We are indeed (and that includes you Haunted!).

swimming I'd try a 32E but if you're finding a 34E uncomfortable then you may want to consider a 32F too. A properly fitting bra will leave red marks (just like socks) and TBH I usually take mine off in the evenings too Grin

CelticPromise · 09/10/2012 14:25

Hello again bra ladies! I can't resista bra thread.

Just wanted to add to the sports bra recommendations- I'm a G cup and find the Panache one effective and also get a decent look with it. For high impact the most solid I've ever worn is the Enell which is ugly and gives you monoboob but they don't shift.

Shock Absorbers come up quite small in my experience.

LessBounce is a good site for sports brasand has lots of helpful reviews.

SwimmingLikeADuck · 09/10/2012 14:25

Thanks statistically. Would an 32 back just dig in even more?

SorrelForbes · 09/10/2012 14:25

Oops cross post!

SorrelForbes · 09/10/2012 14:27

Hi Celtic

I need to try the Enell I think. I don't care how it looks really as long as it stops any movement!

Pootles2010 · 09/10/2012 14:30

Sure I heard something on radio ages back about how larger bras have to be designed by civil engineers... something about because its a 'semi-solid' mass its really difficult to support whilst allowing free/natural movement...

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/10/2012 14:33

Surprisingly not swimming. A lot of the time when a back is a bit loose, it means it moves and rubs more than when it is tight enough. A well fitting back will stat put, so while you get a few red marks they dont have the friction rubbing you get from one too loose.

My boobs and I don't have a good relationship. They cause me pain and went up to a 34k when I was BFing.

I have the following bras:

34HH well worn nct breastfeeding bra - no pain, boobs look crap.
32GG panache underwired - boobs look amazing, wire against chest in the middle. Back fat and underarm fat. Pain up my shoulders and neck if I wear it for more than a couple of hours.
34GG & 32H Royce no underwire - no back fat. Boobs don't look great. Pain in shoulders and neck if I wear it for a whole day.

Have had bravissimo fittings too, but I can't tell if a bra is going to hurt unless I wear it for a whole day.

JollyJack · 09/10/2012 14:43

My measurements are 84cm (33 inch) under bust and 104cm (41 inch) bust.

Going on the above I would have said try a 32G or 34FF. If you want a good shape you're going to need an underwire and it sounds like you're finding a 32 in an underwire a little uncomfortable. Maybe try a 32H? What style have you tried?

JollyJack · 09/10/2012 14:56

Thank you Sorrel

That's the one I have in 32GG. Panache superbra melody.

They need better names I think. Superbra doesn't sound appealing to me!

SorrelForbes · 09/10/2012 15:00

That's quite a full cup shape. I don't have any Panache bras so can't comment on how they fit etc. Statistically? Hazel?

Maybe you would be better in a more moulded or padded cup (I don't get on with unpadded bras at all)?

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/10/2012 15:01

Jolly this may also be a brand issue. I cannot wear panache, even when the fit is correct they are the wrong shape for my boobs. Can I suggest ordering a few in the sizes sorrel suggests, but a mix of brands and shapes and trying them out around the house for a wee while so you can tell if they actually fit? Sometimes you just cant get enough of an idea in a 5 minute try on.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/10/2012 15:05

Oh, also, at those kind of sizes you definitely need wires. My personal favourite day to day bra is probably the bravissimo Alana, which has a good sturdy back and straps if you are over a g. I think it comes up a smidge small. Also, are you scooping?

GockandJuice · 09/10/2012 15:13

thank you sorrel! i think i'm going to have a look into this, all my bras tend to ride up in the back but the cup seems fine so i think i might be wearing the back size too big?

HazleNutt · 09/10/2012 15:13

honestly you don't check a thread for a couple of hours and you have dozens of women in new bras Grin

SorrelForbes · 09/10/2012 15:15

Gock Yep, a back that rides up is a definite sign that you're wearing too big a band. However, if you start wearing a smaller band then you will almost certainly need to go up in the cup.

YerMaw1989 · 09/10/2012 15:15

I know you see a lot of sports bra types on people who are far too large chested for them and are essentially polishing kneecaps Shock

Hazel Where have you been? Grin

SorrelForbes · 09/10/2012 15:19

YerMaw1989 indeed! I see some lovely sights at my gym classes.

GockandJuice · 09/10/2012 15:28

sorrel thanks! I'll keel over i reckon, i'll give a 28H a go! That sounds huge!
