I have 2 M&S bras as struggled to find push up bras to fit (ones with just a tiny bit between each cup so don't show under low cut things) and I don't wear them that often - once a week if that and all the hooks have bent already.

I have ordered some new ones from Debenhams but I will definitely search around a bit more from now on!

MadameCupcake Enjoy. I love bra shopping!

MadameCupcake, the Gossard Superboost might be worth trying if you haven't already - it only goes up to a G cup but from what I remember the sizing was generous. It has a tiny amount of fabric between the cups - here

Sorrel/statistically et al could one of you please give me a starting guide for my measurements? I am 37 inches underneath and 47 overtop. Am currently 38+3 weeks pregnant though, so after nursing bras! Thank you!

SorrelForbes · 10/10/2012 15:32

I've never bought a nursing bra so I'm not sure if there's anything different measurement wise?

Normally I'd say to try a 36H or a 38GG.

I'd say the same as Sorrel - Personally my underbust went down (so I;d say the 36) but my cup went up. It depends a lot on how your boobs behave once your milk comes in although IME maternity/nursing bras do tend to be fairly soft and stretchy too. I'd maybe only get one or two to start with and see how you get on (and dare I say buy from somewhere with a decent returns period so if you go up 3 cup sizes you can return them!)

Thanks very much both, I'll start with those! Considering I had 40% removed in a breast reduction 15+ years ago it makes me wince to think of what size I would be up to by now if I hadn't!

I reckon post baby I was around a 30L or M, they were absurdly big. My milk came in overnight and when I walked in to the room the next morning my DH just about fell off the chair - they were like two footballs.

Tried scooping today. Felt a bit better, think I need to go up a cup size though.

Scooping is not an accurate term either. I reckon hoiking is a better description Grin

Scooping is possibly far too delicate - more like yank all your soft tissue and haul it around until it goes in to the bra!

I find it makes a huge difference to comfort (although it does often lead to needing to go up a cup size) as it means the wires sit outside your breast tissue. Without doing it, they are sitting on my softer bits which are far more delicate and far more easily injured by bras. I think this is why a lot of people find bras so uncomfortable as if the cup is too small/back too big then the wire won't be sitting on the more robust parts of your body.

I'm a double G and it drives me nuts trying to find a bra that both fits and suits me. I hate having big boobs :(

My big boobs are the main reason I'm breastfeeding! I reasoned that I'd been carrying round this useless extra weight for years and it was time for them to finally be useful, otherwise what was the point in having them at all!

I love having big boobs as have only had them a year, lol! They are surprisingly not that big though - a GG with implants means that my boobs are not actually as big as someone with natural GG's because they are compact into a smaller space - I am not explaining it well and not sure if that makes sense at all but even the measuring ladies look at me as if they don't believe me then check the tag in my bra, I reckon they look DD's!

Sorrel - could you do mine, measurements are 36 over fullest bit and 34 undeneath. Ta very much!

SorrelForbes · 11/10/2012 20:02

Of course! I'd try a 34B.

Panache bras are generally fairly tight, but an accurate representation of size. Eg. Freya & Fantasie are known to be stretchy bras, so a person would need a back size smaller in these compared to a panache - generally.
IMO (as a bra fitter of nearly 8 yrs) Panache bras offer the best support for fuller busted women. Not always the most comfortable, but definately hook-up & complement women's shape the best!

StatisticallyChallenged · 11/10/2012 20:19

I want to like Panache as they have some lovely styles, but they are incredibly uncomfortable on me. Freya (and Bravissimo own brand) suit my shape far better. I always feel like the Panache wires are a different shape, perhaps a deeper cup, and as a result they look awful on me. If the cup is wide enough, then the wire sits about 1cm below the case of my boobs (not good) and if the wire is in the right place underneath, then it is too narrow and sits on my breast tissue at the side.

But IMO - most women seem to suit one or the other. I know few women who have a drawer with a fair mix of Freya/Panache.

Madame. I know what you mean. I definitely have an ample chest but people tend not to believe that I'm a 30G until I show them the label (especially young thin acquaintances of mine suffering in their 36As!)

I don't have any Panache bras. I have a few Freya's which fit well but i never wear them as I don't like the shape they give me.

Favourite bra makes so far are Fauve, R&P, Prima Dona, Ewa Michalak and Debenhams Gorgeous range.
