Having been a member of MN since 2003 I have seen and read some disgusting comments from other members particuarly on this board.

I am starting to think that some of these people must be very sad and insecure.

Some of the names that are called are disgusting and I am sure that these people would never go up to someone in RL and call them that.

And do not get me started on the "I am better than you because I can spell" attitude which seems to be the final insult if all else fails.

Other comments include

"troll" "Oh not another thread" etc.

It is cyber bullying at the end of the day and as mothers shouldn't we all just grow up a bit? The MN team do a great job of deleting such posts but often the OP has seen it and the damage is already done.

Tough would you not think about stopping now? It's all moved on you see. Organically. I thinkbyou possibly getting a little het up and that's not good.

Oh FGS, do I need to draw diagrams? Bullying of LeQ on the Irish thread, that I clearly said was the nearest I've seen to bullying on MN. How is that leaping to anything?

People post this sort of thread from time to time, and they do have a point, it can feel (to me, can't speak for others) a little head girl and adoring followers at times. The same posters then get straight in denying such a culture exists and start doing the sort of belittling type post to which OP refers. QED.

Bullying is a bit much though, thicker skin required, perhaps.

I tried to engage with the OP, politely too, and explain why I didn't think the example she was using was at all indicative of a culture of bullying across the site. But to no avail. I felt quite ignored, actually but I'm used to it, so larking seemed a pleasant enough use of the thread, and wasn't preventing anyone from returning to the OP.

I have not sent a single PM.

I now feel a bit depressed that there are hordes of silent seethers who find me and my 'ilk' a complete pain in the flaps.

But I suppose that was the intention.
