To think that the bullying culture on MN can be a bit much....

tjah04 · 04/10/2012 08:50

Having been a member of MN since 2003 I have seen and read some disgusting comments from other members particuarly on this board.

I am starting to think that some of these people must be very sad and insecure.

Some of the names that are called are disgusting and I am sure that these people would never go up to someone in RL and call them that.

And do not get me started on the "I am better than you because I can spell" attitude which seems to be the final insult if all else fails.

Other comments include

"troll" "Oh not another thread" etc.

It is cyber bullying at the end of the day and as mothers shouldn't we all just grow up a bit? The MN team do a great job of deleting such posts but often the OP has seen it and the damage is already done.

OP posts:

Shot stirring is so 80's isn't it? Donna was shit stirring about Darren and he told Gavin.

Chubfuddler · 04/10/2012 20:46

Basically: stop mucking about.

Hully. I am in the 'stay on topic' thread. Had you noticed? It's really quite obvious.

SuePurblybilt · 04/10/2012 20:47

It IS that simple, Hully. The non-larkers find the larkers boring.
The suggestion that the larkers may, in their turn, find the non-larkers boring seems to be falling on stony ground, for some reason. Perhaps they have God on their side, like Saint Joan tedious cunt that she was

Hullygully · 04/10/2012 20:47

No, I think pms are done by people that won't post on the thread in case...what?? The sky falls in or summat.

What is that pome about the lark?

Or aboard the skylark.

Oh. Well it's abit of a dull conundrum then and no mistake.

Chubfuddler · 04/10/2012 20:49

TBF I said shit stirrer first. So it was the second time.

SuePurblybilt · 04/10/2012 20:49

Is LeQ really the Biggest Shitstirrer of them All? Have we checked with the magic mirror?
I think not, meself.

Shelley, Hully?

Hullygully · 04/10/2012 20:50

Well what I want to ask the non-larkers now is, Why don't you like larking? Life is so grim and harsh, larking makes it almost bearable.

TuftyFinch · 04/10/2012 20:50

Nnot stir LeQ I'd put my shot glass in my pint. I was that person.

yes I see that tough

mumtomoley · 04/10/2012 20:51

Just to add, I read many more threads than I post on and I am certainly not annoyed about posters talking to each other on a thread, or have any desire to be included in private in-jokes etc. I agree that banter, refering to other threads and shared history all add to the site - and I am generally slightly shocked if I recognise what the fuck anyone is referring to, and quite happy with that. So LeQueen your advice about just joining in isn't really relevant. I honestly don't think people are criticising cliquey behaviour because they feel jealous that they aren't part of it.

What is annoying, and what I said from the start is that when you are reading a thread and interested in the replies that might follow and the thread is deliberately derailed because certain posters do not agree with the OP. This thread is a perfect example of that happening. It's not because the thread had run it's course because it has already begun by the end of the first page. When it is a natural progression of the conversation of course that isn't going to annoy anyone. When it is done deliberately and in a way that is hostile towards the OP (when what the OP has said is not completely unreasonable) then it is irritating.

Also considering the amount of posts devoted to scoffing at the idea of any kind of 'clique' there is an awful lot of the royal 'we'. As in, we definitely don't bully anyone.

(I also hate the word clique and it's implied superiority.. but can't think of a suitable alternative.)

Chubfuddler · 04/10/2012 20:54

Deliberately derailed? Again that suggests some sort of group intention which simply doesn't exist. The op got called on talking nonsense and appears to have toddled off and meanwhile a conversation has spring up. That's all.

Hullygully · 04/10/2012 20:54

But it HAD finished mumtomoley

There is bullying

No there isn't, where's the proof?

Yeah but no but

That was the sum total

Hullygully · 04/10/2012 20:55

yes, no deliberate derailing, why would anyone bother? Much easier to start a thread callec Come and Piss About. Which happens frequently.
