Surely there are thousands of others just as capable at doing the job?

Unless it says 'wanker' in 2 inch high letters, YABU.

I wouldn't want my child asking for a neck tattoo either, but I'd just do what I normally do when they ask for something unsuitable

SPsFanjoLovesItGangnamStyle · 03/10/2012 13:30

Mary Grin

I love tattooed men!

ouryve · 03/10/2012 13:31

If M&S are happy to have someone with a wonderfully gothy neck tattoo and multiple piercings serving in one of our local stores, then children's BBC is fair game IMO :o

SPsFanjoLovesItGangnamStyle · 03/10/2012 13:32

Mary his tattoo his huge and offensive Grin

PenfoldRocks · 03/10/2012 13:32

So, I'm prejudiced for thinking that I'd rather not have someone with a neck tattoo presenting a kid's TV show, but I can be judged by immediately assuming that I think he's some kind of threat to children? Hmm.

I just followed the link to the daily mail. Now I feel contaminated.

Bet it hurt to have his neck tattooed. Nor that I could make them out in the pic!

Fairylea · 03/10/2012 13:33

I don't understand why people seem to think tattoos automatically mean thick as shit or criminal. My dh is covered in them and is absolutely neither of these.

He also has a very good job as an assistant manager and just for the record he is a graduate.

It's just a form of art. You're wearing art. I also hate the old thing about "wait till you're old, they'll look awful"... as my dh says "I will be more concerned with whether I can take a wee by myself than what my skin looks like".

Good tattoos are also expensive... my dh pays £70 an hour for his.

SPsFanjoLovesItGangnamStyle · 03/10/2012 13:36

You are prejudiced against the tattooed folk of the world!

I don't see why having a tattoo is a big issue?

I personally love tattoos and tattooed men.

My son has seen my tattoos and his dads one so seeing a person on TV with them is nothing. He wouldnt even notice them.

You think he shouldn't be presenting kids TV as he has a tattoo on his neck. So where do you think he should be "allowed" to work?

Sparklingbrook · 03/10/2012 13:37

Isn't everyone more interested in the cakes anyway?

Well Penfold what is the problem with your child catching the mere glimpse of a neck tattoo then if you don't think it will harm children in any way?

StuntGirl · 03/10/2012 13:38

Didn't read anything past the OP.

YABU.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 03/10/2012 13:38

Penfold
Arguably there aren't thousands of others who could do the job. Reading the back story he sounds like a great role model for children. The neck tattoo is hardly an issue is it.

freddiefrog · 03/10/2012 13:40

What's your problem with his tattooed neck?

Why shouldn't he be on TV?

cory · 03/10/2012 13:44

How many teens are going to roll up at the tattoo shop asking for a tattoo because they saw one on a presenter of children's television 12 years previously? Seriously? Do you think that's where our teens get their role models from?

And how would a small child be able to get a tattoo unless you are present and ask for it?

The good news: by the time your child is old enough to try to get a sneaky tattoo, they won't even remember what the children's BBC characters looked like.

SheppySheepdog · 03/10/2012 13:45

Oooh, neck tattoos! Nice. Grin

Banning him from tv is a bit harsh though.

Lueji · 03/10/2012 13:55

Now, what do you think of this?

FreePeaceSweet · 03/10/2012 13:57

Oh give over.

jellybeans · 03/10/2012 13:58

YABU and judgy. One of DC teachers has a neck tattoo! Doesn't bother me as long as he is a nice person/good teacher.

SPsFanjoLovesItGangnamStyle · 03/10/2012 13:59

Lue Grin Beckham doesn't do it for me but I do like the tattoos

TittyWhistles · 03/10/2012 14:08

Can you still buy those transfer tattoos for kids that you had to spit on and rub really hard?

I spent my whole childhood covered in those.

SPsFanjoLovesItGangnamStyle · 03/10/2012 14:09

I think you can titty

My brother also had a toy tattoo gun. It would stain your skin!

I loved tattoos growing up yet no one around me had them.

I got my first at 15 and my second at 18 and I plan on more. People will judge but fuck it!

Tattoo doesn't equal nutter!

daddyorchipsdaddyorchips · 03/10/2012 14:36

Neck tattoos are scummy. No two ways about it.
