I was talking with my friends friend at her house on our friday lunch date we were talking about our children growing up aour kids are all of a similar age

My mates mate say she cant let go and stil
BATHS her children together (confused) she has a boy and a girl the girl is 11 and the boy is 9 WTF

I nearly spat out my tea

I really think this should end around 5 mark and maybe you could get away with a little later of there same sex

My children aged 9 and 3 take an occasional bath together.

My eldest is nearly 14, when he was 11 he naturally started to cover up and hide, even when changing his socks! Grin

Its a natural thing. Kids will let you know if they don't like something.

They grow up.

If they are OK with it, then where's the problem?

I think my DC stopped bathing together when DD got to about 10 (DS 8+) - her choice.

MrsFruitcake · 02/10/2012 08:52

My DD (almost 9) and DS (4) still bath together sometimes. What do you think will happen OP?

DD has asked a few times now to bath on her own, which is fine, but sometimes, they still like to share which is also fine. We all walk around naked after baths etc, and that's okay too - to the children, they are just 'bits'. As long as the DCs are okay with it, I don't see an issue TBH.

Your posts fuck me off amber leaf

Incest just does not suddenly happen from young siblings bathing together

Why don't you educate yourself on the topic?

You have made wild assumptions about this situation

And yep I definitely think this says something about you

These are children not teens

There is no boundary being crossed

RuleBritannia · 02/10/2012 09:31

Not bath related but we booked a holiday on a farm and my DD and DS shared a bedroom. They were 17 and 16. They obviously knew boundaries tough.

I didn't say it did. in fact I did say there is nothing bad about siblings bathing together.

Why don't you educate yourself on the topic?

I know enough about the subject to have an informed opinion thanks.

Have I? I think based on a very limited OP everyone has actually. I responded to the OP by saying that I think the issue is the mother still bathing children that age and that they should be given privacy.

And yep I definitely think this says something about you

Really? what does it say about me then?

I don't see the problem if the kids are happy with it. Rather strange if the mum is bathing them (i.e. soaping them) or forcing them to bath together though.

My DSs and DSSs sometimes bath together. The eldest DSS is 11 and he prefers to be alone now and lock the door - that started about a year or so ago. The others sometimes bath on their own, sometimes in pairs, sometimes all three of them. I get in the bath with DSs (8 and 6), but not DSSs - THAT would be weird and wrong I think. DP sometimes jumps in with his youngest DS.

Sometimes my DSs play with eachother in the bath. They have been known to try and poke eachother in the bottom, flick eachother's willies. They think it is hilarious. They are not sexual parts to them, they are just bits that are interesting. They also play with dinosaurs and boats. I don't think they're going to suddenly develop an incestuous relationship because they bath together. I have said that bottoms and willies are private and they shouldn't try and poke eachother there, but no more than that as I don't want to give them any complexes as they get older. Seeing how DSS changed in his view towards sharing a bath once he got to about 10, I'm sure that in 3 years time, poking eachother in the bottom won't be an issue, as they'll want to bath on their own. If they are still doing it when they're 12 and 10, I'll have a different kind of word with them...

I once had a bath with my friend too - we were both in our late 20s and married. It did not make us suddenly become gay.

mumnosGOLDisbest · 02/10/2012 13:48

i'm frequently amazed at things in this topic but incest caused by siblings bathing together! really? Hmm

my nieces are on track to become incestuous lesbians (disclaimer dont mind if they are gay or not) by this reasoning. At 16 and 21 1 frequently sits and chats or even goes to the loo whilst the other or even their dm is bathing!

AmberLeaf · 02/10/2012 14:55

I didn't say incest is caused by siblings bathing together, but dont let that get in the way of your point.

Ephiny · 02/10/2012 15:03

I'm surprised children that age need to be 'bathed' by their mother, I'm fairly sure I was showering myself at the age of 11! Is there a reason they can't manage to wash themselves?

It does seem a bit odd to me that they're bathing together (personally there's no way I'd have undressed in front of my brothers at that age) though different families have different attitudes to nudity at home.

alemci · 02/10/2012 16:19

I suppose they pick cues up from their parents. I tend to be quite private and alway lock the door. i didn't wander around naked when they were young. My DH is a bit less reserved than me. I think the girls just got on with it once they got to about 8 and may have started having a shower.

i remember my son going to stay at my in laws when he was about 10 or slightly older and me saying to them that they didn't have to supervise him showering or bathing. i wasn't really comfortable with them doing it by then as i never went in to the bathroom myself with him.
