My friends baby died at 12 hrs old. The next yr I got a card signed from them and 'bump'. I cried with joy for them. Why piss on someone elses parade?

kate2boysandabump · 28/09/2012 17:39

I've never received a card from a bump and I wouldn't send one from a bump either. I'm due on 15th December and I'm not sending cards this year as I dan't want to write cards that aren't from the new baby, but don't like the idea of signing from bump, especially as I'll most likely have had him by Christmas.

Each to their own, but it's not for me.

WorraLiberty · 28/09/2012 17:39

Signet I do that too Blush

MollyMurphy · 28/09/2012 17:41

Some people will find anything to sneer at.....I think it's sad. They are your friends for goodness sake - why not just be pleased for them and their exuberance.

Fairylea · 28/09/2012 17:51

What's the harm in it ??

I did this. I was so excited about having my son ... both my husband and I have fertility issues and were on the ivf waiting list when we found out I was pregnant on the same day our appointment came through..! If I could have signed my bank cheques from me and bump I would have :)

Embrace the joy. There's enough misery out there.

StuntGirl · 28/09/2012 17:52

I think it's silly too OP. I would of course never say anything to the giver but would inwardly roll my eyes.

My sister called her second pregnancy Bump 2, and my boyfriend used to think he was hilarious for referring to it as Bump 2: Bump Harder, in an film voice-over voice Hmm Grin

HmmThinkingAboutIt · 28/09/2012 18:05

Anyone who does this should be shot at dawn.

Ragwort · 30/09/2012 21:41

I realised DH and I were being rather twee when we signed our card with our names, plus son's name and put his age in brackets, thinking people might be interested Blush.
One card came back from an old universitay friend with his own age in brackets (48 or whatever) Grin.

We've never made that mistake again !

attheendoftheday · 30/09/2012 21:48

I've been known to do this Blush.

I feel like I have 2 children, although dc2 isn't born yet, so I want to include them.

I also sign from drove Blush Blush

attheendoftheday · 30/09/2012 21:49

Sign from the ddog! Bloody autocorrect.

filetheflightoffancy · 30/09/2012 21:57

Nope sorry this is bleugh. And usually done by the same people who put pictures of their babies on their facebook with captions in the first person from the baby eg:

'Mummy wants me to go to sleep but I just want to play'.

Bllleeeuuuggghhh!

YouMayLogOut · 30/09/2012 22:31

YANBU. It's attention-seeking "aren't I clever for having a bump!!! I'm pregnant in case you'd forgotten!!!"

YouMayLogOut · 30/09/2012 22:33

What happened to just letting people know you were pregnant, then enjoying it yourself and then sending out happy birth announcements when the time comes?

All this gushing is so tedious. Everyone's pleased for them but really, no-one wants the boasting and minuteae.

InfinityWelcomesCarefulDrivers · 30/09/2012 22:36

But surely she went through the menopause live on TV?
