Sure this has been moaned about many times before, but signing on behalf of the bump, bleugh!

OP posts:
pictish · 28/09/2012 16:39

Wouldn't do it myself, but can't imagine me being annoyed if anyone else did.
What a miserable thing to moan about!

Lottapianos · 28/09/2012 16:40

CailinDana, I didn't know you were pregnant - or am I just really out of the loop? Congratulations! Hope you feel better soon Brew

MrFlibble · 28/09/2012 16:40

Peshwari give over. I unfortunately know people who have lost a child older than infant age, should they have never signed any cards from their names?? Hmm

BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 28/09/2012 16:40

Cailin that was also brought up on the FB pregnancy announcement thread - you shouldn't post about your pg incase it upsets others who have lost babies/miscarried etc.

here Am only linking so I don't have to type out the fors and againsts that were brought up on that thread, that are relevant on this thread.

FutTheShuckUp · 28/09/2012 16:41

Sending cards to someone exclusively from the bump ? I've heard it all now

^^this

CailinDana · 28/09/2012 16:41

Yeah lotta, I'm nearly 20 weeks :) The hormones give me hulk rages over the stupidest things, it's very embarrassing.

Lottapianos · 28/09/2012 16:44

Good for you Smile At least you have the excuse of hormones, my hulk rages are just down to being a grumpy caaaaaah Wink

TheCountessOlenska · 28/09/2012 16:44

Ha ha BrianCox, I bet some of your FB friends were rolling their eyes a tiny bit at "Flump" Grin (Are you the true life Emma from Emma's diary?)

Calm down though, no one has called you a twee bitch!

MrFlibble · 28/09/2012 16:44

Oh just seen your post saying sorry Cailin (I dont recognise this name when people address me, im half expecting people to still call me ABF!) No need to apologise my sarcasm doesnt come across well on screen!

RightsaidFreud · 28/09/2012 16:46

I don't like it. But then again, I don't like it when people put scan pictures on facebook, constantly update their statuses about their childs bowl habits and have baby showers.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 28/09/2012 16:46

Am i the only one who read this and thought Judy of 'Richard & Judy' was pregnant again?!

Dozer · 28/09/2012 16:47

Surely Judy wouldn't sign on behalf of the bump?

OP posts:
OrangeandGoldMrsDeVere · 28/09/2012 16:47

you big meany OP Grin

Its usually first time parents who do it. I have had cards including 'the bump' sent to me which is sweet (oh yes it is!)

I include the animals on my cards, what the what is wrong with that?

I can understand people thinking its icky tbh but 'distasteful'? Ok if you knew someone had just lost a baby it would be pretty insensitive but generally?

Do you include your children on your cards Peshwari?

Lottapianos · 28/09/2012 16:49

'But then again, I don't like it when people put scan pictures on facebook, constantly update their statuses about their childs bowl habits and have baby showers'

I hear you. I saw someone's FB status the other day was how relieved she was that her child had had a poo coz she'd been bunged up for 3 days or whatever Hmm Jesus. Although maybe she's a bit Confused if I write a status about whatever non-child stuff I've been up to, thinking 'why would anyone want to know that?'

RightsaidFreud · 28/09/2012 16:51

We're on the same wavelength Lotta :) Glad i'm not alone!

BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 28/09/2012 16:52

I hate being told to calm down, but I will let you off this once as you weren't to know Wink

At least you didn't do a :: head tilt :: or ask me if I was ok.

No, I wasn't called a twee bitch, however twee was mentioned and bitch is a great word.

Never read Emma's Diary, my SIL called it Flump and it stuck (SIL has no children, so maybe she has a friend who used it?)

I am feeling a bit exasperated that I seem to be doing everything wrong in the great judgemental eyes of MN. It has been 9 years since I was last pregnant, I had forgotten how everybody has an opinion on everything a pregnant woman does. It gets worse as they are newborn/toddler etc and then by the time it is 8 I will be back to thinking people can stick their opinions up their bums Grin

Only 8 years away from MN then......and the world in general.

Dozer · 28/09/2012 16:54

Plenty of men do it too, I reckon, my DB included!

Startailoforangeandgold · 28/09/2012 16:54

YABU
and anyway on Christmas cards it's the easiest way of saying and by the way I PG.

I'm in two minds about pets, seems a bit dippy, but a student friend always sighed from herself, her horse and the cat and somehow it just summed her up beautifully.

Dozer · 28/09/2012 16:55

Briancox, EVERYONE is doing everything wrong in the all-seeing-but-not-all-agreeing eyes of MN!

OP posts:
BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 28/09/2012 16:56

that must mean that we are all doing everything right then....

Lottapianos · 28/09/2012 16:57

'Briancox, EVERYONE is doing everything wrong in the all-seeing-but-not-all-agreeing eyes of MN!'

Agreed, and things seem particularly twitchy at the moment. I wrote what I thought was a measured, reasonable post earlier today and got my head. bitten. off. by the 'judgy' brigade. I guess it's good if we can laugh about it Grin

TheCountessOlenska · 28/09/2012 16:57

Grin @ BrianCox, phew, I am scared of the spreadsheet!

Congratulations btw, I am pregnant too Smile

BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 28/09/2012 16:59

yeah, sorry my first post on here was a bit tetchy.

I'm rarely tetchy on here though and it wasn't aimed at one person in particular, just the general opinion.

I am dead nice on MN, I save my inner-bitch for RL situations Wink

OrangeandGoldMrsDeVere · 28/09/2012 17:00

Blimey Brian I had FIFTEEN years tween DCs 2 & 4 (dc3 is adopted). I was like this Shock at the way every fecker had an opinion on what I should do whilst pregnant.

I suppose everyone had these opinions when I was prg with DD and DS1 but they didnt have the sodding internet on which to express them endlessly

BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 28/09/2012 17:00

congrats Countess

every good MNer should have a pretend spreadsheet.

It scares people into thinking you are keeping track of them.

In reality I can't remember one thread to the next
