prettyflyforawifi am very sorry about your DD.

CailinDana · 28/09/2012 16:25

I just don't get why people sneer at their own friends. It seems so nasty, I hate the thought of my friends doing it to me.

Sorry to hear about your DD Pretty, glad you got to include her in your card.

Lottapianos · 28/09/2012 16:27

'My sister always signs cards off from her, bil and the kids...and Flash, her bloody cat'

Does she actually sign it '.....and Flash, our bloody cat?' Grin

Personally I do find it a a bit pukey Dozer but horses for courses and all that.

MrFlibble · 28/09/2012 16:28

Ohhh it makes me shudder and I bet they'll call the pushchair a buggy as well!

Firawla · 28/09/2012 16:28

I really don't get what is so wrong with it, so yabu!
Agree with cailindana - why would you sneer at own friends, thats horrible

tittytittyhanghang · 28/09/2012 16:30

YABU, I did that at xmas when i was pregnant, from titty, mr titty, dc, the bump and the dog too! Its a family card after all!

FatimaLovesBread · 28/09/2012 16:31

I wouldn't write it normally but I did this week on my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary card. It's a big occasion in their life and I wanted the soon to be baby to play a little part in it as well.
In grandmas birthday card I just signed me and DH

Dozer · 28/09/2012 16:32

Ah, Cailin, of course am happy for them.

OP posts:
Bunbaker · 28/09/2012 16:32

I think it is a bit twee.

Ephiny · 28/09/2012 16:32

I would find this quite odd. What's next, signing on behalf of the hoped-for child when not even pregnant yet?

We don't sign cards on behalf of our doggy family members, seeing as they're dogs and don't know or care about such matters. We do get cards to them though :)

CailinDana · 28/09/2012 16:32

"Buggy" is the most common word for it in Ireland MrFlibble so I advise you to not to go there, or have any Irish friends, unless you enjoy sneering at people that is.

TheCountessOlenska · 28/09/2012 16:32

I'm usually one for a Hmm face all over the place re. this kind of stuff (we're pregnant etc etc)

But I can't find it in my heart to be Hmm about Christmas cards from the bump, it's only like signing it from the pets - harmless and quite sweet.

(I possibly draw the line at some kind of named bump such as "bean" or "flump")

CailinDana · 28/09/2012 16:32

So why are you cringing then Dozer?

BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 28/09/2012 16:34

fucking hell.

I am the spawn of satan.

Fancy being excited about your impending child, hoping that others that you love and care enough about will share a little of that. What a twee bitch I and others like me are.

So, I sign my cards with 'bump', I have a scan pic as my FB profile pic AND I announced on FB.

What other MN sins have I committed?

I daresn't read down active convos today.

Spinity · 28/09/2012 16:34

Definitely ick IMO and it makes me feel like my the actual event that I was receiving the card for is not really as important as the impending baby - why should MY birthday be an occasion to remind me that you are pregnant? But hey, I am miserable and a Scrooge I guess :)

PrettyFlyForAWifi · 28/09/2012 16:35

Thanks.
Now cheer the fuck up and stop sneering at your mates.

MrFlibble · 28/09/2012 16:35

Cailin rein in your outrage I was sneering at the OP of this thread... and the buggy thing refers to another thread that's rocking right now. Maybe they'll appreciate your thoughts on the Irish side of things! Grin

BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 28/09/2012 16:36

My first DC was referred to as 'Bean' and this one is 'Flump'

I had no idea how many of my potential FB friends were eye rolling at me.

gettingeasier · 28/09/2012 16:36

Sending cards to someone exclusively from the bump ? I've heard it all now Grin

PeshwariNaan · 28/09/2012 16:37

Knowing people who've had stillbirths, this kind of thing is pretty distasteful to me. But I guess that's no reason to spoil their fun.

CailinDana · 28/09/2012 16:37

Sorry MrFlibble Blush. Pregnancy makes me an angry angry woman. Thanks

Dozer · 28/09/2012 16:37

Sneering at friends, doesn't everyone think negative or judgmental things about friends occasionally, on things little and big?

Anyway, most of these cards are from DH's friends and family (as mentioned, he is naice, and popular!) I, of course, use Xmas to sift out any behalf-of-bump-betties as part of the friend selection process Grin

OP posts:
CailinDana · 28/09/2012 16:38

What do you mean Peshwari? That people should hide their pregnancy because others have lost children?

Lottapianos · 28/09/2012 16:39

I don't see what's so awful about having an opinion on something your mate does. The OP isn't wishing them any bad luck, just cringing a bit at something they have done that isn't to her taste. And what is an anonymous forum for, if not a bit of offloading about real life situations? Smile I'm sure she is 100% supportive in real life but it's good to blow off a bit of steam where your friend's feelings can't be hurt

comedycentral · 28/09/2012 16:39

Bloody hell lighten up
