I am a bigger BMI, and have anxiety issues.

I've been turning my own stomach recently worrying that in hospital they will make me you have to use a fat person delivery room, or a huge bed or god knows what.

just need some reassurrance it hasn't turned into a circus really?.

AIBU to worry so much??.

Breast and bum size does change when you lose weight, of course it does!
Muscle is heavier than fat is another denial line like bmi is bollocks. It's all nonsense, but whatever makes you feel better.

MrSunshine · 28/09/2012 20:06

She is overweight. Her doctor says so, her bmi says so, and internet randoms say so.

Now, haven't you derailed OP's thread enough? This isn't about whether BMI is accurate or not it is so no debate needed

I'm not too fucking thick to understand that weight loss IS treatment for PCOS

I'm also not to fucking thick to understand that if you MAINTAIN your weight during pregnancy if obese (as advised), then you are actually dramatically changing your health (and the baby's) if you minus the growing baby from that

She IS being treated if she is recieving medical advice on how to manage her condition, you just don't like the advice!

MrSunshine · 28/09/2012 20:11

Ok, whatever, you're a medical marvel. Your arse is made of a different substance to everyone else, and bmi doesn't count for you and your friends (despite being rigorously tested and accepted by the WHO).

Happy in la la land ?

KillerRack · 28/09/2012 20:11

I'm quite disturbed about the insistence on epidural tbh, I really don't want one And I don't see why I should have to 'just in case' I need a C section.

I have issue with being made numb from the waist down which very overly stretchy ligaments.

Worra: you weren't unpleasant but some posters above were.

and you can lose weight during pregnancy, safely and in a controlled manner (or by excessive sickness), thereby lowering your BMI.

TruthSweet · 28/09/2012 20:12

I've got a 1wk old baby (DD4) I had a BMI of 35 when I got pg, a BMI of 32 at 40wks pg and now I have a BMI of 29 so you can drop your BMI when pg.

I didn't even do/eat anything special or exercise any differently, the weight just fell off (and yes the cons./GP did order thyroid function test/full blood count/vit deficiencies/etc to see if there was anything wrong but all was fine).

DD4 was 7lb 10oz so not small by any measure either.

halloweeneyqueeney · 28/09/2012 20:13

gosh, I'll type REALLY SLOWLY

If you MAINTAIN your BMI with addition of growing baby, your BMI once minus baby will have reduced

"And of course weight loss is. But if she lost much more weight she'd look like a fucking idiot"
there just isn't a response to that, I'm sure your friend might find few words for your comments and posting of her pic though if she sees this thread!

"The 'lose weight' wasn't to 'manage her condition'. It was 'we can only give you x tablets if you get your BMI to X amount"

yes what's wrong with that, the particular medication may only be indicated for people for whom weight involvement has been ruled out first!

halloweeneyqueeney · 28/09/2012 20:15

or only for people whose condition does not respond to weight loss

Mr Sunshine
There is no point starting treatment for somehting like PCOS without losing weight first, since that is a treatment in itself.

Strangely enough my consultant decided to treat my PCOS because treatment helped me lose weight. Clearly he wasn't the expert you are!

halloweeneyqueeney · 28/09/2012 20:16
