To put naked pics of your 10 year old DD on FB

KellyElly · 27/09/2012 21:38

Was just looking through some holiday pics of my friend and her family on FB and linked are pics of her friends DD (10 years old) naked and being thrown about in the pool by my friends husband and various males friends.

This made me feel really uncomfortable not because I think the men r peadophiles or anything like that but I just don't think a girl that age should be butt naked in this situation. Please tell me if I'm a prude, IBU etx as I hace a young DD (only 3) and this made me feel really uncomfortable.

I have childhood issues that make me feel like this and need to know if its that making me feel this way or if others do too. I don't trust my own judgement on this sort of thing.

The OP said her friend is married, and it was her friend's friend (the single mum) whose dd was photographed.

I wouldn't feel comfortable about this at all. 10 is too old to be playing naked with adult men she doesn't know.

THEMardy · 27/09/2012 21:54

Also those pictures could come back to haunt her when she is a teenager.

MacyGracy · 27/09/2012 21:55

Yes I wouldn't have my 2 year old or 5 year old naked around anyone except immediate family!

AndiMac · 27/09/2012 21:55

Ah, I think I read it right now, it's the pictures of a friend of a friend? Well, I'd still get her to pass the message on and get them taken off.

This feels so wrong to me. Naked pictures of a ten year old child on a social networking site is inappropriate.

Proudnscary · 27/09/2012 21:56

I am struggling to believe this OP. Really? Naked? By husband and friends? We have a big group of rowdy friends and often go on holiday together but this would NEVER happen. If true - then this is deeply wrong at 10 years old.

I don't put any pictures of my children on Facebook and tell my friends not to either. But that's just me.

Icelollycraving · 27/09/2012 21:57

Report the pictures. It is very unreasonable to this child's privacy.

imperialstateknickers · 27/09/2012 21:58

Since Timeline started I've been very confused about privacy level settings, to the point where I'm being hyperparanoid about mentioning anything about dds, even their existence. No harm in telling your friend that her innocent pics are possibly a bit more public than maybe she thought OP?

KellyElly · 27/09/2012 21:58

Line sorry I mean the child knew my friends husband but not the other men.

Piretcat her mum put the pics up and tagged my fried!!

10 is too old to be running around a pool naked in my opinion. And the photo's should definately not be on Facebook. YANBU

Proudnscary · 27/09/2012 21:59

Have you posted before KellyElly?

AdoraBell · 27/09/2012 21:59

If that was me, in the photos, I'd be leaving home. It's one thing to be completely relaxed around family and close friends, but FB -potentialy- is open to the world. YANBU at all.

KellyElly · 27/09/2012 21:59

Proud I have been on MN for a long time (check) so this is true!

the nudity dosnt bother me if its a appropreate place to be nude but photos in the public domain a no no yanbu

IamtheZombie · 27/09/2012 22:01

Kelly is friends with a couple who went on holiday with some other people including a single mum and her 10yo DD. The husband in the couple (Kelly's friends) and another man were throwing the 10yo into the pool.

Have I got that right, Kelly?

flatpackhamster · 27/09/2012 22:01

Maybe the friend doesn't have the insane freakish nudity hangup that appears to have infested the psyche of every person on here. Good for her.

ENormaSnob · 27/09/2012 22:01

Yanbu

I find it sinister tbh

MacyGracy · 27/09/2012 22:01

Hang on, I thought Facebook itself banned naked pictures, hence all the protests of breastfeeding pictures being banned.....

rainyspells · 27/09/2012 22:01

This woman is obviously a complete fucking idiot - letting your own daughter run around naked in front of men, seriously?? Wonderful parenting, just splendid. Report the pictures, facebook is not as private as it used to be.

defineme · 27/09/2012 22:01

I have friends of friends with own swimming pool-they all swim naked in their pool and my reaction to that is why not?
It's context really isn't it.
My Czech friend thinks we're all freaks and would cavort naked in front of 100s of strangers at the age of 40 because nudity is a non issue in the Czech republic.
I would be a bit uncomfortable about this , but I know my 7yrold dd loves being naked, wanted to be on the beach in spain and we compromised on pants like the spanish girls, so I wonder if she'll be much different in 3 years time?
I wouls possibly just express surprise to my friend that her dd was happy -in a light hearted way and say thst my own ds would be far too embarassed.

Proudnscary · 27/09/2012 22:02

Well if it is true - report the pictures. I have a 10 year old who would be mortified and humiliated if naked pictures of him were on FB or anywhere else. And he doesn't even really know the other issues this throws up.

StaceeJaxx · 27/09/2012 22:02

No, no, no, no. I'm sorry to say that just sounds wrong! My dd1 is 9, and already starting to develop there's no way she'd be naked in front of any men, including her dad these days. That would actually make me really uncomfortable, and there certainly shouldn't be photos on FB.

scentednappyhag · 27/09/2012 22:06

Insane and freakish flatpack? To think that a ten year old shouldn't be naked in the Internet? Hmm

KellyElly · 27/09/2012 22:07

Zombie yes spot on!
