Reading this thread...demonstrates why you only want to accept a cuppa at the friend's who know the tea towel rule-otherwise their cups have been dried with a tea towel that has had a possibly intimate encounter with their husband's underpants.

whendotheyleavehome · 27/09/2012 22:21

In my household doubtless both - my dss wipe their noses on the hand towels so I wouldn't put a bit of anal flossing with a tea towel past them

seeker · 27/09/2012 22:26

Words fail me..... Not a thing I often say!

Matesnotdates · 27/09/2012 22:26

whendotheyleave - anal flossing, crying again!

whendotheyleavehome · 27/09/2012 22:27

sorry - my last comment was in response to matesnotdates - am new to this mumsnet chat lark and didn't realise the speed of chat- but will have to nip my newfound addiction in the bud so I have enough time to boil tea towels.

Perhaps we should all just use disposable tea towels... infact am now seriously considering giving my boys disposable paper pants...that would sort out a shitload of problems (quite literally)

whendotheyleavehome · 27/09/2012 22:28

matesnotdates check out www.helpfulhumour.com I think it might make you giggle - I think we share the same sense of humour

AllOverIt · 27/09/2012 22:31

Matesnotdates · 27/09/2012 22:37

whendotheyleavehome · 27/09/2012 22:41

Sleep tight, don't let the bum germs bite

xxx

Matesnotdates · 27/09/2012 22:45

Night night whendotheyleave, and thank you for my new fave pharse - anal flossing. With a tea towel. xx

LornMowa · 27/09/2012 22:58

If you iron your tea towels does that kill all the bum germs? (hopes it does).

NeDeLaMer · 27/09/2012 23:02

Lorna - prepare for the backlash over ironing tea towels, I think we're a rare breed on MN!!

FionaOJ · 27/09/2012 23:18

raises hand I would OP. Also because my dp would have left the clothes in the washer for days

YY to separating tea towels from the bum germs.

YY to closing duvet covers!

I will wash bedding with tea towels and dishcloths at 60. Everything else at 40. Except handwash and wool, they go in a pillowcase on a delicate wash.

You scruffy lot.

FionaOJ · 27/09/2012 23:20

Iron away, friends. I won't judge you Wink

Who the frig irons anything other than linen pants??

steppemum · 27/09/2012 23:26

Sorry if this has been said, but

BUM germs - unless you use a non biological powder, then the enzymes in your washing powder eats the germs at 30 degrees, that is why the adverts all say works at 30 degrees. All germs eaten by the enzymes. If you use non bio, then you might need 60 for germs.

doinmummy · 27/09/2012 23:57

Never mind bum germs, what about Mini Mites!!!?

Pandemoniaa · 28/09/2012 00:03

Well who'd have thought it? Quite how I've got to my advanced age without succumbing to a fatal attack of Bum Germs I cannot imagine. Especially given what I now realise is a highly dangerous approach to the washing.

wherearemyGOLDsocks · 28/09/2012 00:20

It has never crossed my mind to separate tea towels or pants. I'm seeing my mum tomorrow, I'm gonna have to challenge her on why she never passed on this vital information to me.

Saying that I used to chuck in reusable nappies with other stuff too. And now she is out of nappies I use the old reusable wipes as cloths Blush

SarahStratton · 28/09/2012 00:37

Could someone please explain the Yakult/bum germ thing please. Confused

Matesnotdates · 28/09/2012 01:58

I use non bio at 40 - I am CRAWLING with bum germs.

Matesnotdates · 28/09/2012 02:00

sarahstratton I wondered about that too. Are Yakult drinkers bum germ free?

piprabbit · 28/09/2012 02:15

Yakult drinkers have beneficial bum germs.

EmmaBemma · 28/09/2012 05:14

^ best sentence ever! It should be their new tagline.

OhNoMyFoot · 28/09/2012 05:21

Op no you are not bu. I hate washing things together. Every time I do I wash ATM I hate it as just cannot afford to split it out how I would like too. Feels like I am going against a really strong person value, anyone would think I was stealing or something.
