Dh has put some washing on whilst I was in hospital. All good. However, have just unloaded it to find pants, socks, towels, tea towels and ordinary clothes have been washed together.AIBU to want to rewash the towels and teatowels.

95 degree wash? Do things survive that? Everything washed together here and survived 30 odd years so far. YABTotallyU

TroublesomeEx · 27/09/2012 14:16

Funny BuM germs BuM. Ssshhhhh don't say that!!!

TroublesomeEx · 27/09/2012 14:17

You're right of course, there's just something about washing underwear and teatowels in the same wash that leaves me a bit uneasy!

ClippedPhoenix · 27/09/2012 14:19

Blimey OP. What's behind your thinking here?

FunnysInLaJardin · 27/09/2012 14:19

ah BUM germs of course, still same thing applies. Bum germs all over your clothes and most likely you DH's...............Everytime you touch your clothes and then put your fingers near your mouth you will be ingesting other peoples poo

DowagersHump · 27/09/2012 14:20

I have always washed everything together. I've been doing it that way for nearly 30 years because it's bonkers to separate stuff out like that.

bum germs :o

EldritchCleavage · 27/09/2012 14:23

I separate kitchen linens from clothes, and both from towels/bedding, even if they go on the same temperature. Just seems cleaner that way.

I wouldn't re-wash the towels though. I don't think you're going to suddenly catch Ebola or anything.

TroublesomeEx · 27/09/2012 14:29

Funny - you're just being mean now Wink

pointybird · 27/09/2012 14:31

Bum germs?? WTF? I don't know how me and my family have survived this long!

peeriebear · 27/09/2012 14:38

My washing regime goes thus-
Open washer door
Grab handfuls of miscellaneous laundry
Cram in machine
Insert detergent + turn on 40 wash
LOL@ bum germs!

Startailoforangeandgold · 27/09/2012 14:41

Generally I try not to wash tea towels with pants it feels wrong, but in the circumstances of being in hospital and helpful DH I'd grin and bare it.

ChippyMinton · 27/09/2012 14:44
Confused WTF????
Floggingmolly · 27/09/2012 14:45

There is nothing that needs to be washed at 95 degrees. Nothing.
And I'm one of those oddballs who washes towels after every bath / shower. But not at 95 degrees Smile

HandHolding · 27/09/2012 14:47

Err re germs washing at 95 isn't necessary. 60 is plenty enough.

And why why would like to redo a washing when you've just come out of hospital??? Would that time not be better spent recovering?

pointybird · 27/09/2012 14:47

If something needs to be washed at 95 degrees, it probably needs throwing away!

seeker · 27/09/2012 14:49

But does that mean you have to do a separate wash with just pants? Because otherwise bum germs will get onto t shirts and you'll touch your t shirt wile you're putting it on then touch your face and die

aimum · 27/09/2012 14:49

If it helps, the Bum germs should be killed by the detergent.

seeker · 27/09/2012 14:52

And anyway, you can't wash pants at 95- most of them would melt!

NeDeLaMer · 27/09/2012 14:52

I would feel the same as you. I would rewash the tea towels (without him knowing) but live with the rest. Tea towels should not be washed with anything else - it's grim.

My Mum is staying at the moment and I'm getting a lot of 'Why not? It never hurt you?' type comments - we are both grinning and bearing a lot Grin She likes dishcloths, I don't. I am living with her using one, but I keep changing it all the time which is annoying her, but hey ho - compromise goes both ways Grin

pointybird · 27/09/2012 14:53

lol seeker I was wondering that

seeker · 27/09/2012 14:53

And towels are generally used on cleanpeople.......

BonaDea · 27/09/2012 14:54

BU doesn't even cover it!

My god, you must drive yourself absolutely nuts.

EldritchCleavage · 27/09/2012 14:54

Dishcloths are fine, provided you change them every other day.

pointybird · 27/09/2012 14:59

and don't use them to wipe your bum

seeker · 27/09/2012 15:01

Really not?
