Yes I know IABU but what happened to the word "pushchair"?

I know there are more important things to get annoyed by but DD has just stopped using the pushchair. It really does irritate me when people ask me where my buggy is.

It is a pushchair, I'm pretty sure buggy was a brand name or model name of a particular pushchair. A similar situation to not all vacuum cleaners being hoovers.

So I don't have a buggy but my pushchair has been put in the loft for next time. AIBU to say "we have put the pushchair in the loft " in response to " what have you done with your buggy?" and similar questions.

I've had the same thought many times.

I still call it a pushchair. My DS3.8yo corrected me the other day saying "no mummy it's a buggy". No idea where he got that idea from!

I tend to call everything pram. I have trouble with 'sh' when I am talking fast, so it comes out as 'Puss chair'

Buggy - I don't think it's in my day-to-day vocabulary.

I interchange pushchair, buggy and pram.

They all mean pushchair at this point in our lives.

Is 'buggy' an umbrella-term for both pushchairs and prams though?

And I tend to call it a stroller, being an uncivilized colonial.

Buggy was a trademark name of the Maclaren pushchair which folds sort of like a brolly. The type you would take on a bus prior to them being accessible.

Always used buggy here. Pram when its got a lie-flat part. Am in Ireland if it is regional!

YY I tend to use buggy as a catch all. You can't really refer to a lie-flat pram as a pushchair, because it's not a chair!

My buggy has been both a pushchair and a pram so I use all of it in various situations.

Sammy,was it really a brand name? Never heard that before. I assumed the word buggy is from the old horse and cart type buggy.

My 3 year old spend an entire something special program shouting at the TV every time Justin said buggy - shouting 'it's a pushchair'.

I thought pram was a big old fashioned thing - but pushchair, buggy not really that different - possibly buggy meaning smaller umbrella folding pushchair.

This was mine when I was a Prulet....

Pram, pushchair and stroller (after spending a few weeks in America) - never really felt right to say 'buggy', dunno why.

I'm a buggy and a hoover user.

I always say push chair, never buggy.

But I also had a Dyson that I call a Hoover

One of my friends always calls it a pram even if it is a pushchair/buggy and several people I know call them strollers!

I've always maintained that when my Prulets come along if the Maclaren deckchair on wheels was good enough for me it'll be good enough for them. I actually remember sitting in it. I remember loving it. Who needs full suspension and integrated-carry-systems?

It was good enough for my daughter too. So much easier to drag across a sandy beach with you picnic hanging from it than any other pushchair.

Do you have a sofa or a settee? A lounge or a livingroom?

I have a front room, even though it's at the back of the house. :o

I use both sofa and settee interchangeably, although the 2 seater is more sofa and the 3 seater more settee for some reason .
