To think that if a thread is pulled due to troll hunting

and MNHQ have evidence/reason to suspect that the poster is either a troll or not a troll, it would be nice if we could be told. or something! I'd certainly like to know if someone had taken me for a mug.

Helen, when you sort out your new buttons could you please ensure that the no doubt required time off-line doesn't take away Zombie's bookmarks? Please? Pretty, pretty please? With gin on top?

Ta muchly!

IvorHughJanus · 22/09/2012 22:43

Am with Zombie on this one.

MsCellophane · 22/09/2012 22:44

So, HQ can't find anything untoward but now the OP of that thread will be forever associated with being a troll - which means she will have to namechange to continue

Will the trollhunters be sanctioned? Or do they just get away with once again?

NorksAreMessy · 22/09/2012 22:44
Wine Sloe gin for helenMN
SuperB0F · 22/09/2012 22:46

Ooh, the new buttons sound exciting. Helen, try turning it all off and then on again?

Boffy, nooooooo!

The last time they turned if and then on again Zombie lost her bookmarks.

BlackberryIce · 22/09/2012 22:49

There are lots of theories going round on this one.

What happened to the kittens in the end? I missed it all amongst the pm's/Facebook stuff and general chaos!

HelenMumsnet · 22/09/2012 22:50

Trollhunting breaks our guidelines. And when people break our guidelines, they generally hear from MNHQ.

And, as we said earlier on this thread, we've no reason to believe the OP of that thread was a troll. And, if we'd been able to suspend the thread, rather than delete it, we would have done.

IvorHughJanus · 22/09/2012 22:51

Am clueless, didn't see the thread. So she wasn't a troll but was trollhunted and then the thread was deleted because of trollhunting and personal attacks?

IvorHughJanus · 22/09/2012 22:51

Oh dear Sad

ExitPursuedByABear · 22/09/2012 22:52

But did the kittens die?

Does Pinot know?

HolyAutumnGoldBatman · 22/09/2012 22:53

as far as we know Ivor, yes.

A lot people behaved awfully on that thread. Really, really horrible. None of it from the OP.

SuePurblybilt · 22/09/2012 22:54

She may have been a troll - it's not as if pore Helen could see into her kitchen.

SuePurblybilt · 22/09/2012 22:55

Mine to Ivor btw.

WorraLiberty · 22/09/2012 22:56

Helen now that you have an (albeit unworkable at the moment) button to suspend threads, is there any chance MNHQ will be locking threads once they get past a certain age?

This would stop the continual bumping of zombie threads that are no good to anyone really, apart from reading and reference.

I mean rather than bumping zombie threads, surely people can start a fresh one and link to the old (for reference) if necessary?

Apologies to Zombie for wearing your NN out Grin

OK, a small ahem to say that, obviously, if this thread starts to become a 'he said, she said' about the kittens thread, we'll have to delete this thread too.

IvorHughJanus · 22/09/2012 22:57

Kittens dying? Kitchens? Goddamnit I want to know what it was about!

HelenMumsnet · 22/09/2012 22:57

@Asmywhimsytakesme

Sadly they did die.

Helen can't you temporarily bar for troll hunting? Give the offenders a month long ban say? Would be more of a deterrent that way maybe?

Yes. We have done on many occasions. And will continue to do, if the need arises.

HolyAutumnGoldBatman · 22/09/2012 22:58

Maybe you should start a new 'name and shame' policy HelenMumsnet?

name and shame the troll hunters.

SuperB0F · 22/09/2012 22:58

I didn't post on it , but yes, can you freeze threads at, say, a year past active?

IamtheZombie · 22/09/2012 22:59

And Zombie's apologies to you, Worra, for her irritating posting style.

Still friends?

TheCalmingManatee · 22/09/2012 22:59

Who said anything about kittens?? Grin Well ok, it was sort of about that thread, but genuinely, i would really like to know if people are trolls - so whilst it was principally a thread about a thread, it has happened before so would be interesting to have that feedback.

BlackberryIce · 22/09/2012 22:59

The 'kitchen' bit is rather worrying!
