Given the bile posted in the last few days in the name of feminism, it is hardly surprising that some posters are currently trying to distance themselves from it.

what is wrong with saying your not a feminist?
I would say that especially on here, don't get how it is competitive

seeker please can you answer as I genuinely don't get it

I'm perfectly calm, just talkin the same as you. You seem a bit... Well intent on making it look like people are kicking off

Yes, I almost feel as though its feminism that has let them be comfortable enough to say that sort of thing. Would they change their mind if they couldn't vote, own property, were paid less thab a man for the same job?

Maybe you should re-read the thread then Kayano?

I see lots of angry posts.

Bizarre.

I don't agree with seeker, or hully actually, about the "girls" thing and I also thought the post was badly timed and inappropriate, however that's not what THIS thread is about and it seems strange and Bad Form actually for everyone to be getting themselves into such a frothing state about it.

This is surely what we should be fighting against?? No who is a better feminist or whatever. Bringing our daughters up to believe in themselves

I can answer that 3socks:

"threeOrangesocksmorgan Fri 21-Sep-12 10:32:39

You wouldn't be able to be adding to this discussion without the work of feminists gone by.

Do you believe that men should hold dominion over women?

The anti-feminists are a littl agitate.

I blame itchy regrowth.

ShirtyKnot · 21/09/2012 10:52

Er, no it's not squeaky. The OP asks why some people are happy to describe themselves as NOT feminist.

Confused

mad thread. madder than a box of penisisisisi

Report
Empusa · 21/09/2012 10:52

Just wondering if OP has any examples of people claiming they are less of a feminist than someone else?

An example of thise "bile" please.

Many examples were pointed out to you very specifically the other day on a certain thread that you started. You could try reading it again if you so badly want examples. Grin

I don't see angry frothing. I see... 'Really? Again?!?!'

And 'wrong topic'

And 'have you made this up'

As if women actually compete against each other to be less feminist and are so stupid they can't even spell it.

It's just any excuse to have the thread over and over again every week it seems

squeakytoy · 21/09/2012 10:53

apparently not Rebecca.... some would disagree though..

You can only do that because women now have equal rights in law

Yes Dahlen I'm grateful for what they have done just as I'm grateful for the past work of trade unionists. But now is the time to move on and prove our worth by using those rights instead of harping on the same old tunes.

For the record I'm not a feminist. I also do not want to be 'treated the same as a man' because I'm not a man.
I'm an individual standing on my own two feet, and I don't want those feet pissed on by the likes of Seeker.

No it's not a thread about a thread. It's a thread about attitudes. So it's a thread about Mumsnet if anything!

Cakeismysaviour- all I want is one example of feminist bile. Things you don't agree with are not bile- they are things you don't agree with. I could if you like find lots of examples of anti feminist bile- so it would be really helpful if you could show some by feminists.
