My OH showed me this thread in disbelief after showing me the previous (police statements thread) also in disbelief [tangent: we both have friends in GMP who were shown that thread by colleagues, were offended and instructed not to post in reply.]
I am a late-thirties bloke, middle management level, kids etc. I went into a new client last week and prior to a meeting with one of the female directors I made us both a cup of tea whilst he was gathering the other attendees. She was 15-20 years older than me.
At the start of the meeting the female director introduced me to one of her management team with "We've brought this young lad XXX in from YYY to help us do ZZZ. As well as doing ZZZ he makes a cracking brew!".
I found her friendly, easy to work with and we've built up an effective relationship over the last few days.
Clearly I should have felt patronised, lodged a complaint with HR, grabbed myself a load of their buns etc...
I genuinely don't understand how keen women here are to belittle/undermine each other and ram their views down the throats of others. After an entire thread on the subject (resulting in a range of views) 'seeker' has again said "no-one genuinely believes x though do they?".
It's a blindness to the breadth of views out there which results in fragmentation rather than consolidation in a world where gender equality has a long way to go. Given some of the 'bigger' fish out there as gender equality issues I wonder whether alienating people like this is counter-productive?
