To think: if you can fly first class, you shouldn't have a council house?

Facebook friends of mine (friends of RL friends really) making lots of comments this week about their impending holiday to Mauritius on which they'll be flying first class and staying in a 5 star hotel.

This couple have lived in a council house for many years (no kids yet), though this year so far she has got a new (not brand new, a year or two old but still v nice) BMW and he has a new Ducati.

One of their friends has commented on FB "Wow, did you win the lottery?!" and the wife replied "no we just saved a long time for our dream holiday".

First class flights to Mauritius are £4k each. A week in a 5 star hotel must be at least £2k and probably more. That's £10k for a week's holiday. AIBU to think that if people can squirrel away that much money for a holiday, they shouldn't be living in a bloody council house subsidised by taxes from the rest of us?

i dont care if some council tenant has saved up for years to travel first class to the fucking moon, good on them for managing to save

its the celebrity/filthy rich tax dodgers and crocked politicians that get my goat

GoldShip · 20/09/2012 22:05

LST - the rest of us have to. Let's hope your kids are never at the mercy of a flawed housing system.

LST · 20/09/2012 22:06

You sound lovely Goldship. Let's hope your kids turn out nothing like you.

BlackberryIce · 20/09/2012 22:06

Ah yes usual .. those politicians!!

Socknickingpixie · 20/09/2012 22:06

usual dont forget,

everybody who lives in la housing is a chav or a underclass who deserves nothing because there so entitled and wrong and workshy and draining the coffers. they get something for nothing, you cant possibly buy a house that looks like one just incase the joneses think your one.

I DONT THINK THAT MYSELF.

GoldShip · 20/09/2012 22:07

LST - I'm the one here who's thinking about those in need.

Personal insults. Such a good way to win an argument Hmm

GoldShip · 20/09/2012 22:07

socknicking where has anyone actually said that?

LST · 20/09/2012 22:08

Infact Goldship risks having yet another post deleted wtf! I am saving basically fuckinh pence to take my son on holiday somewhere in 10 fucking years time and you would begrudge me my fucking house because of it. Really?!

Your not worth the insults to be honest. I don't even know why I let twats like you wind me up.

GoldShip · 20/09/2012 22:10

LST calm the fuck down and keep your personal comments to yourself. Call yourself am adult? Why don't you switch the Internet off and go get yourself a nice grip.

LST · 20/09/2012 22:11

You have no idea how I live my life and you have basically told me I should give my house up 'because everyone else has too' because I'm saving up for a holiday for my son.

I need a grip really? Go and have a look in the mirror.

GoldShip · 20/09/2012 22:12

Have I said you.. Have I? Obviously you aren't well off enough if you need to save ten years for a holiday. The people in this topic go on multiple holidays and have a posh car. They aren't the same.

You're the one who assumed I meant you.

LST · 20/09/2012 22:14

Goldship you directed the comment -'like everyone else' at me. So what else was that meant to mean?

VinegarTits · 20/09/2012 22:14

'Where is everyone going to live?' maybe the MP's could rent us their second homes or better still make the filthy rich tax dodgers pay up and build more LA housing, they could start with barclays bank who probably pay less tax than i do!

oh no, lets throw the poor out of their homes so the poorer people can move in

LST - read what has been put. You jumped at me. I never said anything about you.

Socknickingpixie · 20/09/2012 22:19

goldship its a undercurrent in many many threads where social housing is even touched on

LST · 20/09/2012 22:20

'LST-the rest of us has to. Let's hope your kids are never at the mercy of a flawed housing system'

.... What does that mean then?
