To ask how you broke the news you were pregnant to your parents

I was wondering/being nosy. How you broke the news to your parents/in laws that you were having a baby. How did they take it if they had no idea you were trying to conceive.

I myself have no story, I'm still TTC but dreading the day I tell my parents (if it ever comes) despite them being lovely- still chicken.

I didn't, I kept my pregnancy with dd secret.

Mum found out when I was 8 months gone and had been spotted up at the hospital by our neighbours son and his girlfriend.

I had no idea what I planned do to when dd actually came along, think I was so scared I was shocked into silence. It was a huge relief when people knew although I did get the obligatory 'what will the neighbours think ?' speech. ( I pissed the neighbours off by working hard at school and then at college )

We were showing my mum round the flat we'd just had an offer accepted on. When we came to the second bedroom I said "this is where we're going to put the baby" and she said "yes yes", knowing that a baby was part of my future plans so I said "No, The Baby!" and pointed to my stomach Smile
She was pleased but I do remember her saying I thought you were going to wait (I was 30!).

I had a v early miscarriage over a year ago but my DP (not DS's father) had insisted that he had to tell his parents asap because he was living with them at the time and couldn't cope with keeping the secret. He made a big 'you're going to be grandparents' type announcement which hasn't yet turned out to be the case. It makes me wince slightly with sadness and embarrassment to think of it. The 12 week rule is there for a reason kids!
