to think my friend is being very very silly

Fishwife1949 · 18/09/2012 09:11

right my friend has not work in 6 years and has a 5 year old (don't want to debate the rights and wrongs of her not working)

she is now being required to find a job, she has said she is is only willing to work term time because of the children which is fair enough i guess but the thing i find vexing is the fact she is not willing to work in any school out of her local area (confused)

there is a opening at my child's school for a dinner lady but i live in the next LA TO HER BUT ITS ONLY 3.9 MILES AWAY on one direct bus #
she says she needs to be local in case her child takes ill but i fear the job center its losing patience with her and her money will be stopped if she carries on being so inflexible

she has no qualifications and were in tough times so i don't fell she can be to picky i think if she passes this up she is crazy

what can i do to convince her

i fear she thinks things are as they were when you can refuse work and i think its allot better she gets a job that suits her then them getting fed up giving her something or just stopping her money

i have also asked her to find out how long she has to look before the money will stop and she wont ask

i am worried because i love her dearly

Very bad form. Reported.

FWIW my local primary school had a catering/superviser position advertised a couple of weeks ago that was definately 20 hours.

They had over 100 applicants for one position.

I don't know why people are so quick to call Troll over something so innoccuous Confused

ShobGiteTheKnid · 18/09/2012 10:03

Lunch at my last school ended at 1.45, kitchen staff need to clean up - I'd say the hours seem sensible. Confused

ShobGiteTheKnid · 18/09/2012 10:06

lots of them have those hours

akaemmafrost · 18/09/2012 10:06

Ok well I apologise. Have suffered greatly at the hands of a troll in last couple of days so my radar is up.

Sounds like the perfect job tbh. Is she scared of getting back to work? Is it a confidence thing, maybe?

PooPooOnMars · 18/09/2012 10:09

What the feck is wrong with the troll hunters! Its always been very clear on here that troll hunting is not allowed. Its obvious you can read so i assume the troll hunters must just be stupid. Hmm

WorraLiberty · 18/09/2012 10:09

OP when you become known on MN as the 'Catering Assistant/Kitchen Porter troll'...

You know you've really made it in life Grin Grin

All you can do is encourage your friend though, you can't do any more than that.

BobblyOrangeGoldGussets · 18/09/2012 10:10

I don't know why some are so quick to report over something and nothing.

Did you always have your hand in the air at school calling "miss! Missss!" when anyone was up to something eh GrassingGertie-- LtEve?

Really, who gives a shit?

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 18/09/2012 10:10

Looks pretty genuine to me. You'd have to have a serious boredom problem to type out that.

Op the job sounds perfect, but your not her mum at the end of the day. Just don't let it bother you as it's her decision at the end of the day.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 18/09/2012 10:10

Sorry, that's a double at the end of the day.

I need to mix up my cliches a bit.

PooPooOnMars · 18/09/2012 10:11

Op. That job does sound perfect for her. Im wondering if what is holding her back is a lack of confidence. I haven't worked for a few years either and when i imagine doing any job all i can see is me being a massive failure. It all just sounds impossible!

LydiasMiletus · 18/09/2012 10:12

What the fuck is going on.
My mum is a lunchtime supervisor at my dds school and works 16 hours as it is a small school and the classrooms are turned into Lunchrooms. The 'cooks' work approx 20 hours each.

timeforathink · 18/09/2012 10:12

bluegoddess it the othe way round a lone parent can work 16 but in a couple it has to be 24 :)

LtEveDallas · 18/09/2012 10:13

Did you always have your hand in the air at school calling "miss! Missss!" when anyone was up to something eh GrassingGertie-- LtEve?

Dear God, are you 12?

PooPooOnMars · 18/09/2012 10:13

Bobby. I give a shit! I give a shit when someone calls someone else a liar based on nothing. It really Does. Not. Make. You. Look. Good!

LydiasMiletus · 18/09/2012 10:15

Love how people are calling the OP and saying its bad form.
What about troll hunting? Can anyone say hypocrites.
OP you can do anything. She needs to grow up.
Lots of us have to work in jobs where it would take a while to get our kids schools if they are ill.

RaisinDEtre · 18/09/2012 10:18

Look you might not like the guidelines Bobblyorange but if you cannot abide by them you maybe ought not be here, go set up yer own forum praps hmm?

op I can see you are frustrated, but what can you do?

Fishwife1949 · 18/09/2012 10:19

Poopoo i am not sure why i know she could do this type of job standing on her head
She just seems so fixed on getting back if somthing happens her child (who is not a ovally sick child)

She texted me back saying she thought i was lovey i thought of her but worried about how she will get bak and is gonna wait for somthing to come near her child school

Nothing more for me to do guess

OP posts:
RaisinDEtre · 18/09/2012 10:19

And we give a shit, Bobblyorange, you might not, borne out by your posts ob this thread

Chubfuddler · 18/09/2012 10:21

Who gives a shit? HQ do. Talk guidelines are perfectly clear - troll hunting is not allowed. If you think the op is full of poo report it.

Some people are so desperate to cry "benefit bashing" they over look the inconvenient fact there are some people who don't actually want to work.

BobblyOrangeGoldGussets · 18/09/2012 10:22

Ah there's plenty of that goes on on here PooPoo, too much to give a shit about.

I have never reported a post LtEve, it's just a chat board, I don't understand why you would be so ready to report on someone else's behalf. You seem more bothered than the OP. How many times do you report per day? I am genuinely interested in what motivates you to do that.

To the person who said I must have a serious boredom problem today, you are correct, I will go and do some gardening in a minute.

PooPooOnMars · 18/09/2012 10:24

Bobbly. You're really not sounding very nice.

BonnieBumble · 18/09/2012 10:30

Lunchtime supervisors (dinner lady) earn under £7.00 per hour in our area. A return bus ticket (4 miles) would cost £6 so it wouldn't be worth it financially. Althougj a good way of getting into a school based position if that is what you are looking for. Lunchtime supervisor positions come up all the time here, If I was the OP's friend I would try and get a similar position in the same area rather than a neighbouring LEA, easier for school holidays if you work in the same LEA.

LtEveDallas · 18/09/2012 10:30

To answer your question Bobbly, I report maybe once a month, probably less as I tend to miss most of the wankers as I am at work.

Your posts were blatent Troll Hunting, Talk Guidlines are clear on the matter, I am happy to support MNHQ who set up this site and can run it however they wish. If you don't like or support the guidlines then maybe MN is not for you.

Startailoforangeandgold · 18/09/2012 10:32

Brunch 10.45
Lunch 1-2pm

Those hours make perfect sense for DD1 school.

They do breakfast too, so must have some staff in earlier, but wouldn't need everyone since many school buses don't get there early enough for all the DCs to eat it.

BobblyOrangeGoldGussets · 18/09/2012 10:32

Ok PooPoo, OP, if I was wrong, I apologise, I really do. Thanks

To the rest of you getting worked up, I just don't understand why you are so keen to report? There's more to be doing in life like I should be doing at the moment.

I didn't set out to deliberately offend and although I have never reported ever, I have never been deleted either (I think), until this thread eh? Wink. I really need to go and do something else now.
