Bought a sandwich at Petworth, £4.35, for a very small ham bap. Checked the ingredients, it said 'made with formed ham'.

AIBU or is this just wrong?

Bloody hell, is that really how cheap ham is made? I had an inkling it wasn't 'right' but never really taken much notice!

I have to ask why do mners write "naice" instead of nice? Can someone pls explain it to me? And boak as well while I'm asking. I'm puzzled when I read it and saying out loud doesn't make it clearer.

For £4.35 for a sandwich I would expect it to be hand made using fresh ingredients.

I never buy reformed meat of any kind.
I am veggie but the kids and hubby eat meat, it has to be proper sliced ham or a whole chicken etc.
Its cheap and disgusting that they charged you that price for it.

You can get a buyone get one free hot diners fr that price at Henry's Table, WeAtherspoons, did you not see the sandwich before you purchased it. I resume it was in a wrapper, I wuld ave asked for a refund

YANBU to criticize the cost of NT food. Far too poncey as well. What's up with cheese and onion with a touch of mayo, or ham and cheese? Why crayfish tails, or truffle and panda? Why not walkers crisps instead of individually hand blown crisps flavoured with exotic vinegars and salts from far off erotic places?

the cafe at our nearest NT place is both awful and expensive
this means we don't go there unless it's picnic weather. we'd be happy to buy lunch in the cafe if only it were edible.

I visit a National Trust attraction with my dds - they took over the catering in the cafe themselves this summer - it was awful. I couldn't get a packet of crisps even fancy dan ones. "Food" was overpriced, desperate tasting and very poncey - I brought food with us ever since - couldn't even get a cup of proper tea

Years ago NT tea rooms did excellent food because it was all made in house but now the food seems to be expensive and poor quality.
Bring back the naice ladies (and men) who used to prepare local dishes and get rid of the standardised factory made food.

Thieving baarstaards, the National Trust. Why am I still a member? I think it's for the free parking at various locations around the country.

I pay my family membership every year by DD - the card arrives before I remember to cancel. It's a fair amount of money, but I always feel they want more out of me whenever I visit a property - only very rarely do you get any kind of free guide to the property you're visiting, so we tend to look upon them as a nice place to stop for a pic-nic and to use the loo. Must check out English Heritage, who have to provide an interesting guide, as it's usually a pile of rubble you're visiting anyway.

DamnTheMan "naice" comes from a thread we had ages ago, someone had found a shopping list in a supermarket and one of the items on the list was "naice ham". The list itself was random and funny, iirc. "Naice" just stuck and has become the way people spell nice if it's meant to mean posh-nice.

(this is my recollection, someone else might remember it better..)
