... you know, like Facebook has! Grin

Brains?? Lol do some people think the like button would replace people actually typing?

Maybe it would, I don't know but I'd use it to agree with someone way up thread when it's moved on.

WorraLiberty · 13/09/2012 22:51

I think Olivia should have an < Ahem! > button Grin

flow4 · 13/09/2012 22:51

Oooooh, I got noticed by MNHQ! Do I get a prize?! Grin

OP posts:
SillyBeardyDaddyman · 13/09/2012 22:51

No.

However, a raspberry emoticon would be most welcome...

MrsVamos · 13/09/2012 22:51

What MrsTerrysChocolateOrange said.

I think the majority on MN don't want a like button, which is why we don't have one. Long may it continue !

LadyBeagleEyes · 13/09/2012 22:52

I still don't get the point of it on a forum that is designed for people chatting and discussing stuff.
I can see the future of MN now.
Poster starts a thread:
Like
like
like
like
Someone that disagrees
Like
like
like
like
So that would be interesting. Not.

MmeLindor · 13/09/2012 22:52

Why would you want to post instead of using words to express your opinion?

Then we'd have threads where someone posted something dopey and a trillion posts. How boring is that?

WorraLiberty · 13/09/2012 22:54

I'd quite like an "I agree with Worra" button but I fear it would be somewhat redundant Grin Hmm

MmeLindor · 13/09/2012 22:54

XP with LadyB.

If I was on FB, I would your post, LadyB.

Since we are on MN, I will say that I agree with LadyB, since she put it better than I did.

flow4 · 13/09/2012 22:56

Yeah.... >popcornflounceraspberrylike< Grin

Runs away and hides behind the curtains giggling

Viviennemary · 13/09/2012 22:56

I used to go on a craft type forum which had one. It seemed to cause no end of trouble. It also had a disagree button. And people came on furious saying what was there to disagree about what they'd written. Hmm So perhaps it wouldn't be a good idea.

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 13/09/2012 22:57

I agree with worra that the "I agree with worra button" would gather dust Grin

MrsVamos · 13/09/2012 22:57

Ooooh, now that could be an interesting option, Worra.

If we ALL had our own 'I agree with ', but then it might throw up loads of other problems.

We would also have to have 'I disagree with ', 'I sort of agree with but', 'I did agree but now disagree with '.

Never gonna happen, is it ?! Grin

McHappyPants2012 · 13/09/2012 22:57

Please Olivia don't encourage this. We love smilies

MorrisZapp · 13/09/2012 22:57

It would be nice for the lurkers though, they're too shy to type their thoughts.

WorraLiberty · 13/09/2012 22:58

Since we are on MN, I will say that I agree with LadyB, since she put it better than I did

But what if the thread had moved on by 100+ posts?

Would you then not bother saying you agree with her...or would you say you agree with her post @ or would you copy and paste it and then agree with her?

OliviaLMumsnet · 13/09/2012 22:59

@WorraLiberty

I think Olivia should have an < Ahem! > button Grin

O-ho, so now you are talking!!
What would it look like?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 13/09/2012 22:59

BUT, but but if we go with MY vision...

Forum would look exactly the same except that next to/under the date on the blue bar there would be a wee green arrow with a number or a wee red arrow with a number. The red would be dislike the green would be like. The number would be like minus dislike. You could click red(down) arrow for dislike and Green (ip) arrow for like. It would help when scanning a thread because you could ignore the people with red minus numbers.

And obviously there would be some technical wizardry whereby you could only vote once on each post.

And Olivia 'liked.' my idea so ner

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange · 13/09/2012 22:59

I do not agree with Worra. Grin

I love MN. People are intelligent and write well and debate things. Like buttons are so fucking high-school-popularity-contest.

snigger · 13/09/2012 22:59

Oh let's go the whole hog, let us nominate ourselves as acolyte, stalker or potential restraining order for any given poster or post. Also, we'll need fonts, that glitter.

flow4 · 13/09/2012 23:00

No, no, no LadyB and MmeL, I'm not suggesting a >like< emoticon that people have to post to use... I'm suggesting a >like< 'button' that people can click that would add a count of the number of people who liked/agreed with that particular post. It could go on the blue bar, alongside 'report' and replace the totally redundant 'Add message' button

OP posts:
runningforme · 13/09/2012 23:00

I would 'like' one Wink

WorraLiberty · 13/09/2012 23:00

How about an "I agree with everyone else that Worra is in fact talking shite" button? Grin

I'd wear that one out myself.....

flow4 · 13/09/2012 23:01

Yeah, ItsAllGoingToBeFine, that'd do nicely too instead :)

OP posts:
McHappyPants2012 · 13/09/2012 23:01

With an icon you will have to post your reasons why you like it and discuss why
