This really annoys me & smacks of smugness. Your husband cannot be pregnant along with you! Why not say I am pregnant?

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 13/09/2012 22:34

I do not like it. It makes me think of couples who wear matching jumpers.

GoldShip · 13/09/2012 22:35

I hate the saying 'smacks of'.

Just saying.

I don't mind the 'we' thing. Each to their own I suppose.

flow4 · 13/09/2012 22:35

Yeah, I'm with you on this - it bugs me too. We probably ABU though! Grin

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 13/09/2012 22:36

Do you know many people with multiple personality syndrome?

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 13/09/2012 22:37

If people didn't get irrationally and unreasonably irritated by things which are none of their business then this topic would be like tumbleweed!

TheFantasticFixit · 13/09/2012 22:38

I didn't personally say it, but jeez louise, I'm not sweating it when other's do...

DamnTheManSaveTheEmpire · 13/09/2012 22:39

Yabu. I think there is nothing wrong with that saying and is rather sweet actually. I also cringe at the saying "smacks off".

Cynner · 13/09/2012 22:41

YANBU. If WE were pregnant, then why was I the only one with morning sickness and stretch marks?

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 13/09/2012 22:42

Who is sweating ?

Honestly it's only a little talking point. This smacks of grumpiness to me !

jellybaby25 · 13/09/2012 22:42

I ended up almost getting into a row with a pregnant lady over this in Poundland.

OP posts:
Cynner · 13/09/2012 22:43

< waves to Pickles and Silly> how are we feeling today?

GoldShip · 13/09/2012 22:43

You nearly ended up arguing with a pregnant woman over it Confused YABU.

jellybaby25 · 13/09/2012 22:44

No, only kidding.... sorry, very bad sense of humour. Not sweating.... just discussing.

OP posts:
PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 13/09/2012 22:44

It reminds me of jez and suze off gimme gimme gimme, that's it!

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange · 13/09/2012 22:44

We weren't pregnant. We were having a baby but it was pretty obvious that DH wasn't vomiting very five minutes.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 13/09/2012 22:45

Did you give her a smacks of?

jellybaby25 · 13/09/2012 22:46

We're having a baby is acceptable.

OP posts:
SillyBeardyDaddyman · 13/09/2012 22:46

cyn you should wave to everyone! Your greeting smacks of favouritism.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 13/09/2012 22:46

I find the phrase cringeworthy too, but if if it even a small step towards men taking equal responsibility for children, then I'm all for it.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 13/09/2012 22:46

We are having a baby
I am pregnant.

Yes this is rightly so.

StrawberryTot · 13/09/2012 22:46

Doesn't bother me either way saying 'we are pregnant' although i never said it myself. The one that creeps me out the most is naming bumps, argh it makes me shiver and sends a right chill down my spine just thinking about it Sad

LilyCocoplatt · 13/09/2012 22:47

YANBU it is cringeworthy in the extreme to hear a man say "we are pregnant."

apostropheuse · 13/09/2012 22:47

YANBU It's a stupid thing to say.

Only a female can be pregnant. Fact.

It's twee and irritating and just generally annoying.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 13/09/2012 22:49

Strawberry I knew a named bump that got its own Facebook profile and had statuses like - oh I love it when mummy eats ice cream. Etc.

Cynner · 13/09/2012 22:49

better WE are pregnant, then my BIL happily telling people " I really put it to her, eh?"
