Urgh just Urgh is how I have been left feeling so i am going to leave a smiley face as a post to say I believe everyone is free to make their own choices in regard to working or not working after children. Also that I'm so grateful our foremothers fought for us to have the

planetpotty · 13/09/2012 21:12

Me too but the whole issue has been done to death and always turns ugly and nobody seems to escape without feeling shit.

PunkInDublic · 13/09/2012 21:20

We should have a link to this thread as a stock response.

AIBU to think SAHM/WOHM/TheEnthusiasticTroll are this that and the other?!?!?! (Sorry Enthu but you get your own special category for not fitting either box but posting a smile anyway)

We all just link to this lovely thread, and walk off smiling and eating our biscuits and buns.

pointythings · 13/09/2012 21:23

Punk if we're going to do that then we need Chocolate and Cake emoticons.

It's nice to see a thread where lots of people are being decent to each other - mwah!

jchocchip · 13/09/2012 21:25

I second the chocolate and cake emoticons! :)

Well said OP!

GilbGeekette · 14/09/2012 10:51

I'm a housewife (if such things exist anymore) more than a SAHM as DD is 14.

But Grin to all, regardless of the circumstances/decision/situation!

superwhizzynewlaptop · 14/09/2012 10:54

don't say housewife, you'll attract Xenia

Shock

Smile Smile Grin

GilbGeekette · 14/09/2012 10:55

I'm relatively new... Who's Xenia? Should I be hiding?

whiteandyelloworchid · 14/09/2012 10:58

we are all different and what works one person is not for other

lets all live and let live

we are all doing our best

and we are fortunate to have choices in life

peace and goodwill to you all

superwhizzynewlaptop · 14/09/2012 11:02

Maybe go to advanced search and look her up Gilb, alongside the word "housewife"...

I have to say though I am enjoying using the word "housewife" myself, partly just to see people's reactions, having given up work a few months ago - when I get the inevitable "what are you going to do now?" questions.

More love to all mums Smile

PunkInDublic · 14/09/2012 11:06

Agreed Super, that's possibly the best word to describe my role in the home 9-3 every day. DS isn't here 9-3 so I'm not doing much mothering. My plans for the day are MN, clean a bit, bake cakes then prepare dinner. I used to be the breadwinner, we're just having a swap for a while.

Did the othere thread go puff? I wanted to read the bubfight it. Smile Agree op.

Numberlock · 14/09/2012 11:09

On a related note, it annoys me that people judge others on what there job is in the first place. When meeting new people, it's often the first question that's asked - "What do you do?"

I think it's shallow that people have to be defined in this way, ie by their job, I'd much rather find out what else makes people tick - what films, music, books, places do they like?
