Selfish whinarsery

I am being a selfish whinyarse. Or at least I want to be one and feel like one, so I want to whine here.

One of my friends is dying of cancer. And now I have a 'suspicious' lump in my nork. I am very frightened, but I think I am probably much more frightened because my friend has terminal cancer and therefore I am worrying that I have it too, and because she is so ill I can't whine at mutual friends because they are already worried enough about my friend. So can I please whine on here and have some hand-holding?

I did get some reassurance from another friend about the speedy referral: because I have no available genetic history (adopted as a baby) they're going to count me, initially, as someone with bad genetic history so it's not any reflection on the actual lump.

Anyway, not much longer to go now.

oh sgb, am very sorry to hear about your friend, and of course it goes without saying that i hope nothing is wrong at all with your boob, other than some weird cyst.

GoldenBabooshka · 19/09/2012 00:07

Your friend is right. I know it's hard but I'm staying positive for you SGB.

How are you doing? As you say, not long now.

Darkesteyeswithflecksofgold · 19/09/2012 00:15

Here for you too sgb. im ussually skulking around these boards late at night and am keeping an eye on this thread. My hand is here for you too. x

BadLad · 19/09/2012 01:04

Your friend would definitely not want his / her friends to get the same illness he / she had, and would be thoroughly approving of your taking any such scares seriously.

My grandfather had testicular cancer, and was adamant that his family should know the dangers of ignoring the signs, and wanted to know if I had examined my own for lumps.

Not selfish at all.

AnyFucker · 20/09/2012 07:31

Good luck today, sgb

ExitPursuedByABear · 20/09/2012 10:35

Good luck.

MoaningMingeWhingesAgain · 20/09/2012 10:36

Good luck with clinic x

solidgoldbrass · 20/09/2012 14:11

Update: They are pretty sure it's a cyst but have done the full range of tests anyway. (Core biopsy is not fun) The mammogram at least was 'normal' (yes, about the first time I've ever been please to hear the word...) . So I am feeling a lot better apart from sore nork with a hole in it... Thanks everyone for all the kind words.

cocolepew · 20/09/2012 14:19

Wonderful news (not the sore nork obviously). Is it being left as it is?

ExitPursuedByABear · 20/09/2012 15:46

So pleased for you.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 20/09/2012 15:50

Good news!! Have a nice bottle of wine tonight and chill :)

goodiegoodieyumyum · 20/09/2012 16:09

Great to hear, my MIL had a lump removed last week and has to have radio therapy just as a precaution, glad yours sounds like a cyst.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 20/09/2012 16:20

It's not whinarsery! I found a lump, it's bloody scary.

No, don't read anything into the speed of the appointment - mine was only three days after I went to the GP, but that wasn't because she thought it was dangerous, just a combination of how seriously they take the situation and the clinic having a quiet time.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 20/09/2012 16:22

Cross posted - that's brilliant news! So glad to hear it - well, not the sore nork bit, that's never fun.

Darkesteyeswithflecksofgold · 20/09/2012 16:26

Pleased to hear that Solid. Agree with the poster who said to relax with some nice wine. xx

Ormiriathomimus · 20/09/2012 16:28

Whine at will sgb. And have a hug (( )).

I have whinged, whined and sobbed on here for months and so far no-one has objected (out loud). Fingers crossed your lump is nothing serious.
