her new teacher keeps getting her mixed up with another girl, easily done. They both have long brown hair.

DD last week was getting a bit irked by this, but I reasured her it was O.K as she has only been there are week and its understandable.

However today this resulted in my dd being refused firstly to go to the toilet "as you have already been", the other girl had already been and refused to get a drink of water as "you have already had 2" the other girl had already had 2. And on pointing out the mix up of identity my dd was told It doesnt matter who you are I said "no"

Shall i send her in with a name tag tomorrow?

Have her hair cut into a different style?

Sparklingbrook · 10/09/2012 18:13

Make her wear some deeley boppers? Grin How old are they?

How annoying-I think you need to just have a little chat with the teacher?

McHappyPants2012 · 10/09/2012 18:14

I wouldn't be happy if my child wasn't allowed to go to the toilet, who does the teacher think she is preventing a child of a basic need.

TheEnthusiasticTroll · 10/09/2012 18:16

what is a deeley bobber? its making mke giggle no matter what it is.

MissAnnersley · 10/09/2012 18:16

Tie her hair back? Put a hairband on?

How old are is your DD?

Pixieonthemoor · 10/09/2012 18:17

"it doesn't matter who you are I said no" ??!! What an abysmal attitude! They are only little ffs! Sorry but I would be speaking to the teacher.

seeker · 10/09/2012 18:17

I would just go and have a word with the teacher. But, as always, make sure you've got the story straight. Children are notoriously unreliable witnesses.- you can end up looking like an idiot if you go solely on what they tell you!

Nanny0gg · 10/09/2012 18:18

Bobble thingies on a headband.

And I'd be having a word...

TheEnthusiasticTroll · 10/09/2012 18:20

they are 6, yr2 class. The annoying thing is it was meet and greet the teacher and dd did not tell untill walking home.

As a mother of a child who has just spent a week in hospital with a dd who had a suspected appendicitis that turned out to be a a very nasty urinary infection, I would be extremely unhappy with a teacher refusing access to the toilet and water to drinkAngry

Speak directly to the teacher anything else would be petty and make you look silly.

holyfishnets · 10/09/2012 18:25

I would wear her hair up with a certain hair bobble for a few weeks till teacher caught on. Point the loo mistake out - explain that you know teacher is mixing them up but that she hadn't been to the loo at all and you really should let her go.

OhDearNigel · 10/09/2012 18:25

I can't understand why there would be a problem even if she had already had 2 cups of water. Or are they rationing that now ?

Sparklingbrook · 10/09/2012 18:25

Just the job

TheEnthusiasticTroll · 10/09/2012 18:27

I may have a word tomorrow afternoon if she has had any more problems.

your poor dd treas, my own dd has in the past suffered with UTIS, after cutting out blackcurent squash she has been fine.

I would not really send her in with a name tag.

TheEnthusiasticTroll · 10/09/2012 18:28

aww they are cute, they would probably be confiscated and returned to the wrong child at the end of the day Grin

CaliforniaLeaving · 10/09/2012 18:28

I'd do her hair different, couple of braids with ribbons in the end or something, and put a name tag on her and talk to the teacher. What if she had been busting to go, pee all over the place! Silly teacher, if she can't tell them apart she should put name tags on them.
All the 5 and 6 years olds (Kindergarten) spend a couple of weeks wearing their name and photo around their neck in our school. The teacher hands them out each morning, it's a reminder to her who is who as she see the pic and picks out the right child.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 10/09/2012 18:29

TET you must get those deeley boppers for her!!! Please!!!!

TheEnthusiasticTroll · 10/09/2012 18:31

it hasnt seememd to matter how they both have thier hair, other girl always wears hers in a very high ponytail or down and dd always wears hers in a one low plait or low ponytail.

seeker · 10/09/2012 18:36

I don't want to sound po faced- but you aren't going to do any of these things, are you? You are going to go in and talk to the teacher aren't you?

jeezlouize · 10/09/2012 18:38

Oh how terrible! I am a primary school teacher and under no circumstances is it acceptable to say 'no' to toilet or drink requests in my school (within reason!). I would be having a very stern word!

TheEnthusiasticTroll · 10/09/2012 18:39

Im not going to do any of these things, seeker.

Im going to see if the mix up continues and then have a word. I was going to have a word tomorrow but Im not too sure, I would realisticly like to give the teacher a chance and would not like her to thing Iam over reacting.

OP posts:
Itsjustafleshwound · 10/09/2012 18:40

Please don't do what those Chinese parents to quads did !!!

Could she not just set the teacher staight in a non-aggressive way??

Sparklingbrook · 10/09/2012 18:40

This mask? Grin

stargirl1701 · 10/09/2012 18:42

I would have a word about the toilet issue (I am a primary school teacher). Overused, but children have a fundamental human right to go to the toilet.

The mix up thing is hard. I did this one year with two girls. I felt dreadful about it and I don't know why I was mixing them up. It did settle after a few weeks Grin. Hang on in there and help your daughter try not to take it personally.
