To think Peaches Geldof should have strapped her baby in?

and also, put the phone down when her baby fell out of his pram!

Have just seen photos of her poor baby tumbling out of his pram onto a pavement. I know the council should have sorted the pavement out, but he wouldnt have fallen out if he was strapped in :(

sorry for The Sun link

That bad breeders blog link made me feel dizzy Sad

5madthings · 10/09/2012 12:16

her arse is not hanging out, she looks bloody good actually. and as i said in the moment when these things happen you DONT always at rationally, you panick and so putting the phone down isnt necessarily thought of.

the baby wasnt on the pavement, he slipped down into the HOOD of the carseat/pushchair.

god people are nasty.

oh and with regards to choosing a pushchair that wont tip, i have had lots of pushchairs Blush but my main one is a nipper 360 and also a bugaboo frog, they have BOTH tipped over on at least one occasion that i can think of. and if its not tipping over its rolling away ie as i described earlier in the thread i let go of the pushchair to grab ds4 who was falling into the road, but in my panic and haste i didnt put the brake on. logically i knew i should have put the brake on but i didnt think, i REACTED to the situation and you dont always act logically.

Socknickingpixie · 10/09/2012 12:16

i wouldnt think twice about wearing shorts or a short skirt on a hot day achillea

Pagwatch · 10/09/2012 12:16

No they haven't.

But there seems to be a quite determined view that only some mistakes are allowed (presumably the ones 'we' didn't make) and only if there is an admission and some kind of mortification.

I think it is quite common to be really embarrassed and even humiliated when we do something really stupid. Making light of it, or minimising it isn't such a surprising reactions it?
Isn't it the equivalent of that thing people do where they trip and try and turn it into a kind of skip in the hope people won't notice.

Perhaps some people quite happily and confidently proclaim 'hey look! What an arse I am' . But I was never like that, especially not when my first child was small.

Kayano · 10/09/2012 12:17

I just find it laughable that she can blame the roads and that the pushchair straps 'popped open'

Seriously whatever

We all make mistakes but you should own your mistakes not make lame excuses and lies

I'm a new mother myself as I said (can I just take a break in proceedings to sad dd just pulled herself up on the tv unit and I hadn't realised she had moved! And that's my mistake now rectified)

If she just held her hands up I would be Wine [tea] rather than Hmm whatevs

booflebean · 10/09/2012 12:20

Worst I saw was a baby in a pram and a woman pushing him onto a tube. Pram wheel got caught and tipped and baby fell out and went between platform and tube. Baby was fine, mother wasnt though.

I felt sick for the rest of the day. Awful.

BupcakesandCunting · 10/09/2012 12:20

Kayano if you are a new mother I suggest that you get off the internets and look after your child. You will regret time spent on here slagging off Peaches Geldof when your DD is behind with her targets.

OwlLady · 10/09/2012 12:20

I tipped my pram over with ds2 in and it was really upsetting and that was to do with an uneven slab. Some nice woman helped me up with him and calmed me down. We all make mistakes and she is only young, give her a break

OwlLady · 10/09/2012 12:21

It must be really difficult too when you have you have your first baby and you don't have your Mum there to help or even just lend an ear, knowing they are there and they love. Really hard

limitedperiodonly · 10/09/2012 12:22

I know you acknowledged your gross mothering error kayano but it still doesn't make it all right to me.

Should you even be on MN while in charge of a baby?

LackingNameChangeInspiration · 10/09/2012 12:22

I think the photographer was UR, why would you keep snapping and not help?

Pagwatch · 10/09/2012 12:22

Yep. That's probably right.

But maybe she was making excuses because she knew that the queue to criticise her would be pretty long if she tweeted 'oh god. Baby just fell out because I hadn't done buggy straps up.'

Admitting a fuck up to your family or on an anonymous website is not quite the same. Although you are a celeb in my book of course Grin

Kayano · 10/09/2012 12:24

Babies sleep you know. Dd has only been awake for 5 mins. And as she is 6 months she is in that distracted phase when if I look at her she won't drink her bottle so you have me for 5 more mins actually

Fucking rude to imply I don't look after my own child btw. I own my behaviour

limitedperiodonly · 10/09/2012 12:24

Christ! first pagwatch and now buppy beat me. I'm really slow today.

Kayano · 10/09/2012 12:24

She is having her bottle

worldcitizen · 10/09/2012 12:25

pagwatch everyone reacts differently. I have no problem to own up to whatever and yes I do get embarrassed and it's not the end of the world.

It is taking herself to seriously when rambling on about London's streets and straps not working. that is what I am annoyed about.

She could have been more light-hearted about it.

limitedperiodonly · 10/09/2012 12:26

A bottle????

I'm not judging but some people do, you know.

HalleLouja · 10/09/2012 12:27

My mum didn't strap my DBro in and took him out of the house and down a step. She is one of the cleverest people I know. 24 years later I haven't let her forget Grin. It might explain a lot about my brother though.

I have done many a silly thing with my DCs. Like not put a nappy on at bed time. DS slept longer than he had before or since. He was 2 and was soaked through.

FrothyOM · 10/09/2012 12:27

Wish I could get away with those shorts Envy

BupcakesandCunting · 10/09/2012 12:28

Who is giving your baby her bottle Kayano? Shock Shock Shock

EverlongYouAreGoldAndOrange · 10/09/2012 12:29

I love the little baby in his shorts and tights. Cute.

Kayano · 10/09/2012 12:29

FUCK OFF

FYI I am a failed bfer who suffered from extreme anxiety over that and sobbed for weeks.

I'm the most honest person on here and wear everything on my sleeve so to bring up the bottle is actually disgusting

Kayano · 10/09/2012 12:30

Me, and I'm off now because se has finished and I am good mum with a healthy dd and an honest mum who feeds her the best that she can.

Disgusting

FreudiansGoldSlipper · 10/09/2012 12:31

but it is ok for you to attack other mothers Hmm

a little empathy goes a long way

Pagwatch · 10/09/2012 12:31

That's lovely WorldCitizen
