I am 35 weeks pregnant with baby number three and so sick of people telling me I am massive or baby is going to be a whopper. or my all time favourite are you sure its just one, aagggghhhh.

I am actually small for dates and since 28 weeks I am measuring 2/3 weeks smaller and need a growth scan if I am still small at 36 weeks.
so aibu to want to punch the next person that tells me how huge I am Angry

You'd never be convicted for it so YANBU Grin

Mine was always being commented on, but it's just something people say to be friendly.

Honestly Smile

Just come out with a similarly bland comment back.

You are looking massive though Grin.

rockpaperscissors · 07/09/2012 18:31

I had similar comments when I expecting DC2 and was measuring 2weeks smaller also. It drove me mad. Even my sister said it! Why do some people think it's ok to say whatever they like. I would empathise with an expectant mum not coMment on her size. YANBU

AgentZigzag · 07/09/2012 18:36

I got called fatty and piggy 'affectionately' by a friend as well, now that did fuck me off.

thebeesnees79 · 07/09/2012 19:07

I keep getting called fatty too. gggrrrr, I have only put 1 & a half stone on so hardly fat, heavily pregnant yes.
my midwife keeps trying to reassure me I am small but with all the comments its making me so paranoid

Megan74 · 07/09/2012 19:08

YANBU. I was a seriously miserable sour faced old trout when pregnant and THAT comment was one of many that bought the inner monster out in me. Someone once said "who ate all the pies " and I retorted "you have by the looks of it". You just need a few put downs to shut them up.

BillyBollyBandy · 07/09/2012 19:10

I had a friend who declared when she saw me at 34 weeks pregnant "dude, do women this pregnant normally stay inside? Seriously, I have NEVER seen anyone THAT big"

Nice Grin

Bossybritches22 · 07/09/2012 19:11

I was big with both mine & got fed up of these comments, after all neither ExDH or I were sylph like we weren't going to have a little one. A friend got me a fab t-shirt that said.

NO I'm not due yet
YES there is only one
NO it's a normal size

I wore it constantly.

MarysBeard · 07/09/2012 19:43

I love that T-shirt BB. May have to steal the idea as a gift for a friend!

I always measured small for my dates and used to get comments towards the end ranging from people not realising I was pregnant up to "You are huge!"

GroupieGirl · 07/09/2012 19:47

I was huge but still hated the comments. Always wish I'd had the guts to do what my friend did:
Stranger: Goodness you are huge!
Friend: Yes. And you're arse is fat. But in three months I won't be pregnant.

GroupieGirl · 07/09/2012 19:48

Your. YOUR!

Pinkforever · 07/09/2012 20:00

i have both too big and too small comments.with the wow your big ones i actually had polyhydromis? i think that is the term? my sis was pregnant at same time and kept commenting on how huge i was.sadly my baby was.stillborn. i have also been told what a neat bump i had .dont know what is worse.

thebeesnees79 · 07/09/2012 20:30

some days I get told I am neat but the majority of the time its wow you are huge.
Pinkforever really sorry about your angel baby xx

StormGlass · 07/09/2012 21:09

YANBU to want to punch them, although you might get arrested if you actually do it Wink

But I'm a bit jealous. One of my colleagues only realised I was pregnant when I was at 33 weeks and another colleague offered me a chair in a meeting. Colleague one informed me, in front of everyone at the meeting, that he'd thought I was just getting really fat. Angry

BlueMoon74 · 07/09/2012 21:15

MIL keeps wittering on to me about how 'huge' I am and how it's going to be a 'big baby'. I'm measuring bang on for my dates (31 weeks on Monday!) - normally a size 10, I have put on 2 stone.

Personally, yes! I do feel huge, but thanks MIL, keep your bloody rude comments to yourself! and stop comparing me to your own daughter who was morbidly obese before getting pg and hence why HER bump did not look quite so obvious!

FalseStartered · 07/09/2012 21:17

are you sure there's only one in there?

MizK · 07/09/2012 21:25

YANBU!

Fuckem and their unwanted opinions!

Its a rash person who indulges in calling a pregnant lady fat, what with the raging hormones, acid reflux and all.

However. Maybe you are usually so svelte and trim that your tenporary girth has taken your nearest and dearest by surprise? Take it that way and maybe will be easier to bear!

Psammead · 07/09/2012 21:27

I am 35 weeks too!

And massive. Actually humungous. Small objects are being slowly attracted to my gravitational force as we speak.

And I have been like this for 2 months now. Everything just popped out at 6 months and I have had people literally gasp in horror when they playfully asked me when I was due.

I actually had one woman say 'ooh, not long to go now, eh?' back in July, to be told 2 and a half months still, who gasped and then said 'mind you, you're pretty well built anyway, aren't you?'

She's under the patio now.

Grin and bear it, OP, and always hide the bodyparts.

Not long now Grin

AgentZigzag · 07/09/2012 21:28

You think the police are stupid enough to take on an angry pregnant woman Storm?? Grin

WestYorkshirePudding · 07/09/2012 21:30

Does it really bother you that much? Confused

I loved being pregnant and both times had people telling me I was huge, I'd be having a whopper and they were right!

Embrace being pregnant and if you're big, so what? You're growing a baby in there Smile

Psammead · 07/09/2012 21:36

It bothers me when people assume something is 'wrong', WestYorks. Like I must be mistaken and am actually due tomorrow, or that it's actually triplets, or that I must be doing something wrong to have made the baby so huge. Or so on. That pisses me off. I am quite amused at how big I am. Other people seem to have a rather narrow view of what is normal, though.

StormGlass · 07/09/2012 21:38

You never know, AgentZigzag - personally, I wouldn't want to risk it Wink

Despite the clear provocation.

PinkFondantFancy · 07/09/2012 21:39

YABU - why do you care what people say? People for some reason feel obliged to comment on your bump - they're either going to plump for commenting on how big or small it is.

AGiraffeOnTheDivingBoard · 07/09/2012 21:46

I am 28 weeks and found out today that I'm measuring 32 weeks and I got to go for an extra scan to check fluids and baby. I am constantly being told that I'm huge, have I got my dates right and is there only one in there... blah blah.... I've been getting pissed off but then after today it turns out though they were right to be making these comments!

I've just been telling people that I've been ruined by previous pregnancies and I don't just mean my stomach muscles.

my2centsis · 07/09/2012 22:49

yabu. people said similar things to me also. i didnt want to punch anyone in the face.
blame the hormones

Pudgy2011 · 07/09/2012 22:54

My friend is coming up on 36 weeks pregnant and has excess amniotic fluid - she has had a very large bump since around 6 months, to the point that she looked full term at about 28 weeks and has just gotten bigger.

I feel so awful for her having to field the "my God, you're huge, are you sure there's only one in there, blah blah blah" - I can see the sheer frustration on her face because she is so uncomfortable and is in no way fat, just that her bump is massive. Clearly she just wants to say "fuck off commenting on my bump, yes I know it's big and yes there's only one in there" - poor love.

I just had lots of people commenting on how small I was. One woman told me I should eat more as the baby was going to be too small and it wasn't healthy to starve myself. I told her to mind her own damn business. But living in the Caribbean you get a lot of interference and unwanted advice from all and sundry!
