To ask WWYD / think if your DH shaved their armpits?

A link to the thread on female shaving but from a different perspective. WWYD if your DH / DP decided they wanted to shave their armpits. Not just trim them. But bare. Not because of an advantage for sports but because they thought it might just be a change.

Would it not bother you as it's their choice? Or would you be concerned?

I agree Pets, times move on.

My Dad scoffed at my DB when he came to stay and had a pot of moisturiser in the bathroom.... until my ex (Army, just completed 6 month tour in Afghanistan) said he used moisturiser too, then Dad seemed to change his mind!

Its the 21st century, now the men have been suckered in to the "beauty" industry too :)

lisaro · 07/09/2012 16:36

My ex used to do it when going on exercise and when deployed in hot places. Seems a sensible thing to do.

NervousAt20 · 07/09/2012 16:37

Wouldn't bother me at all

Kayano · 07/09/2012 16:38

DH loved the l'oreal moisturiser

I loved Hugh Laurie advertising it

I steal said moisturiser lol

DH takes longer to get ready than I do too Grin

lisaro · 07/09/2012 16:38

AND he trimmed his pubes at the same time. And much as he's my ex, insecure blokes could never say he's not a 'real man'.

BeeBee12 · 07/09/2012 16:42

Dh takes most of his armpit hair off and does his eyebrows.I have put concealer on most men I know and dh uses clinique clarifying lotion.

OddGoldBoots · 07/09/2012 16:45

I think the idea of 'real men' is lost now, there are so many types of people, male and female.

Metro is cool, geek is cool, sporty is cool, biker is cool and so many other options and combinations of options.

winnybella · 07/09/2012 16:47

Eyebrows? Concealer? Shock I've never been with or have known a man who did any of that.

Hmm. Don't know. Perhaps it isn't a very modern stance, but I don't think I would find a man who preens in front of mirror or waxes etc attractive. I'm in the 'it's not very manly' camp.

DameEnidsOrange · 07/09/2012 16:47

Wouldn't bother me in the least.

My friend doesn't remove any hair but her DH clippers his arm pits, chest and back. Totally their choice

Petsinmypudenda · 07/09/2012 16:49

And what is manly?
should all men be sweaty beasts chopping down trees and stuff.
We except that a woman can be different from the norm and still a woman but a man is a not manly to do something different?

Next it will be 'its a bit gay'

Petsinmypudenda · 07/09/2012 16:49

Rouge a in there sorry

jimmenycricket · 07/09/2012 16:52

I'm not sure I'd notice to be honest Blush

Ephiny · 07/09/2012 16:53

I would be surprised as he's never done it before, but can't imagine it would bother me.

Why would I be concerned?

winnybella · 07/09/2012 16:54

Petsinmypudenda-no, I think as OddGoldBoots said, there are so many different 'types' of masculinity right now and different women will find different things attractive.

I personally don't find eyebrow-plucking men attractive and that was OP's question i.e. how would you react if your DP decided to shave etc. Each to their own.

lurkedtoolong · 07/09/2012 16:57

I doubt I'd notice - in fact off the top of my head I couldn't tell you if he has hairy pits or not. Whatever works for him would be fine by me.

He did have his chest and back waxed once before a holiday as he thought it would stop him being so sweaty. The pain of it all caused him to go into shock, I wasn't very sympathetic. Grin

LynetteScavo · 07/09/2012 17:04

Well, it would be weird if he left his chest hair.

I think he should start with a chest wax, a "back crack and sac" then move on to his pits, and then his speedo-line.

But legs would be weird. I find men with smooth legs very a bit odd, even cyclists. But then I'm not keen on men with long hair.

LynetteScavo · 07/09/2012 17:05

Long hair on their head, that is.

Most men shave their faces, don't they. Men who go all father christmas with their facial hair a few and far between.

LynetteScavo · 07/09/2012 17:07

My point being that this facial shaving is just the start of a slippery slope.....

So if women are going to give up hair removal, then maybe they should expect the same from men.

DizzyKipper · 07/09/2012 17:11

Actually I'd be glad, I don't like hairy armpits. Think it's worth a mention? Grin

WaitingForMe · 07/09/2012 17:32

I wouldn't mind but prefer DH hairy. I love the smell of his armpits and would be a little worried he'd smell different.

DorisIsWaiting · 07/09/2012 17:36

It's their choice.

Old BF used to shave everywhere but that was cultural.
Each to their own.

anonacfr · 07/09/2012 17:38

Really? I would be rather freaked out. I like hairy men.

3monkeys3 · 07/09/2012 17:43

Bleugh - huge turn off. I like hairy men though and my dh has a - gasp -beard! And he's gorgeous.

3monkeys3 · 07/09/2012 17:44

To add to the above - it gives the impression of vanity and vain men are repugnant. Men are meant to be hairy.

NameChangeGalore · 07/09/2012 17:54

My husband removes his. He is like a bear otherwise. Thanks to him our DS has hairs on his feet...HIS FEET. We should have named him Frodo.
